Photos & Video: Crystal Butterfly Literary Awards
The Atlantic Publishing House held their Crystal Butterfly Literary Awards event this weekend, honouring Margaret Rose Giloth, Dr. Shangri-La Durham-Thompson, Cheryl Kerr, Professor Melodye Micere Van Putten, Rev. Dr. Madeline Hayward, Carlene Spence-Darrell, Jessica Riederer and Peggy Burns.
A spokesperson said previously said, “This year we have selected the following authors for their outstanding contributions to Bermuda’s literature. This is a significant event, developed, based on the 1978 publishing manifesto created by Executive Director Dale Butler who started his publishing journey with a goal to broadening the number of authors in print and also encouraging their works to be used in songs, plays and poetry.
“Selected this year are:
- Margaret Rose Giloth
- Dr. Shangri-La Durham-Thompson
- Cheryl Kerr
- Professor Melodye Micere Van Putten
- Rev. Dr. Madeline Hayward
- Carlene Spence-Darrell
- Jessica Riederer
“The Guest Speaker is Patrice Frith Hayward who was one of the 2019 recipients of the Crystal Butterfly Literary Awards. The Triumph of the Spirit Award will be given to Nana Peggy Burns, artist, author, editor, educator, minimalist, poet and social/political commentator.”
