July 11, 2022

A motorcycle rider who was clocked at 67kmh, initially refused to stop and was “found hiding on his bike behind a wall” and “attempted to evade police by driving at the officers, one of whom sustained injuries” was found to be underage and riding a motorcycle which had been reported as stolen and had “fraudulent license plates.”

A police spokesperson said, “In keeping with Operation Vega, police officers were conducting road traffic checks on Southside Road, St David’s, around 12:40 a.m. Friday, July 8th 2022, when they attempted to stop the rider of a motorcycle clocked at a speed of 67 Kmh.

“The male motorcycle rider refused to stop and a chase ensued. Officers lost sight of the suspect upon reaching Chapel of Ease Road.

“An area search was conducted and the subject was found hiding on his bike behind a wall. The rider attempted to evade police by driving at the officers, one of whom sustained injuries to his arms and legs.”

“The suspect who subsequently arrested was found to be under age and riding a motorcycle, which following checks, was found to have previously been reported as stolen and was fitted with fraudulent license plates.

“These matters all remain under investigation and anyone with information on any of them is asked to call 211 or, the main police number, 295-0011. If you’d be more comfortable sharing such information with an officer you know, we urge you to please get in contact with that officer as soon as is possible.”

  1. Unbelievable says:

I’m sorry but…..how dumb are you, underage rider?

    • JAYBIRD says:

Too right – I’ll bet he gets a good scolding from the magistrate…

      • question says:

Yes. Under age, no license, no insurance, stolen bike, fraudulent plates, speeding, failed to stop, hiding from the police, injuring a police officer.

This will result in a a mild rebuke, I’m sure.

Can you imagine ? You get on a bike with 3 strikes already against you and then go out and ride in such a way to attract attention to yourself and then add another 3 strikes to the record .
How on earth does one (and it’s not an unusual occurrence either) acquire this type of mentality ?
As if the roads aren’t already dangerous enough we have to worry about these type of people using them .

Mind set of most today is “ who is going to stop me”. No time in juvenile for these “thinkers”…straight to de Farm.

            • Toodle-oo says:

And then we end up with the usual complainers saying we’re the only place in the world that locks up people for traffic offences !
