The police have now confirmed the death of 57-year-old visitor Judy Severe, who died this weekend at Horseshoe Bay Beach.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of Ms. Judy Severe.

“Ms. Severe was one of several visiting cruise ship passengers at the Horseshoe Bay Beach on Saturday, the 21st of August, 2022.

“It was reported that Ms. Severe and others from her group were out snorkeling in shallow waters, when Lifeguards observed that she had not moved from her position for a period of time and decided to check in on her.

“On doing so, they discovered that she was unresponsive. Lifeguards pulled her body ashore, where lifesaving efforts were attempted by lifeguards and two off-duty nurses, prior to the arrival of emergency services. However, she was pronounced dead on arrival at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

“An autopsy has revealed that the cause of death was due to drowning.
