Review: Night Brunch At St Regis Bermuda

Brunch is a staple in Bermuda culture. Every Sunday, friends and family dress up and head to their favourite establishment to enjoy brunch, whether it’s a classic buffet, family style or even a la carte. Brunch is a ritual here.

So what happens when a restaurant offers a night brunch concept on a Friday evening? It sells out in a matter of days.

On Friday night, I had the pleasure of being invited to BLT Steak NY at St Regis Bermuda for Night Brunch. It was a one-off event that I hope they repeat because it was fantastic.

On arrival, my date and I were handed a glass of Fleurs de Prairie rosé to kick off the night. I enjoyed this rosé a lot over the summer, so it was a great sip to get started. Music filled the restaurant courtesy of Dj Korie Minors playing a mix of afrobeats [my new FAVE], soca and a little reggae.

Once we were seated, we were given the option to order more drinks or get started with the food. We chose to stuff our faces and order drinks a little later. Our server explained all the food would come out at once served family style. I wasn’t sure how that would work considering the table was small, but I was hungry and looking forward to noshing.

And then came the food: small plates and bowls filled with the most delicious bites. We enjoyed Tuna Tartare, Tora Tora Sushi Bites, Mini Fish Tacos, Roasted Tomato Bruschetta Caprese, Asian Chicken Skewers, Grilled Lamb Chops, Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Sweet + Sour Shrimp with sides of Caramelized Brussel Sprouts, Mashed Potatoes, Truffle Mac + Cheese and Pulao Rice.

Each bite was better than the last with standouts including the tuna tartare, bruschetta, lamb, and beef tenderloin. The sides paired perfectly with everything and it was all just incredible.

Oh, don’t let me forget about the cocktails! I saw a server delivering these bright pink drinks with what looked like a bubble on top. I quickly inquired about this curious drink and then ordered one for myself. It was called Le Petite and had Fierro Apertive, Tito’s Handmade Vodka [infused with mandarin], lemon juice and spiced syrup.

The bubble on top held the amazing citrus, which was released once I popped it as instructed with a piece of orange rind. The drink was strong, but easy to drink and tasted like more.

While I enjoyed the food, I would’ve preferred the starters had come out first and then the mains because the food got cold quickly. Because everything was so flavourful, we didn’t mind, but we would’ve preferred warm food. We also did not want to rush our meal to enjoy it warm.

For desserts, we had small bites of Strawberry Cheesecake, Rum Cake, Raspberry Mousse and Chocolate Fondant cake. The Rum Cake was the clear standout.

Overall, this was a fantastic event. The restaurant was loud and buzzing and honestly, I really enjoy that when dining out on the weekend. So many restaurants in Bermuda are too quiet in my opinion. The music was fantastic and added to the entire vibe. And, there was a 360 photo booth, which was a lot of fun.

I look forward to seeing what else St. Regis Bermuda is cooking up in the coming months.
