Video: US Aircraft Transfers Sick Crew Member

An aircraft from a US military ship recently landed in Bermuda in order to transfer a sick crewmember from a vessel  to Bermuda in order to receive medical care.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Thursday 6th October, 10:00 am – Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre was notified by a member of staff at the KEMH hospital, that a MEDIVAC from a vessel offshore was planned, with a crew member intending to come ashore for medical assistance.

“The USCG RCC Norfolk were contacted and confirmed that a US military ship operating in the vicinity, was intending to land an ill crewmember in Bermuda, using a Boeing V22 Osprey type aircraft. BMOC liased with the ATC tower at LF Wade Airport, and at noon local time, the aircraft safely landed in Bermuda and the patient was subsequently taken to hospital by ambulance.”
