Nathan Dill, the Bermuda Boxing Federation president, has attended the International Boxing Association’s [IBA] Global Boxing Forum in Abu Dhabi to discuss the critical topics of the future of the sport.
Dill, voted in as the BBF president in 2015, has joined boxing stakeholders from all over the world at the forum, which started yesterday and finishes tomorrow, focusing on issues such as the IBA’s place in the Olympic Games, gender equality and sound governance.
Among the esteemed guests Dill has met at the event are Roy Jones Jr, who held multiple world championships in four weight classes, Evander Holyfield, a former undisputed champion at cruiserweight and heavyweight and Dmitry Bivol, the WBA light heavyweight champion.
Jones Jr told the IBA website: “Issues are always solved in dialogue. I would like to thank the IBA and president Umar Kremlev for an opportunity to voice our ideas and propose the best things for our beloved sport. Together, we can achieve more.”
The IBA was not involved in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and boxing is not on the initial programme for the Los Angeles Games in 2028 pending reforms demanded by the International Olympic Committee [IOC].
The IOC is organising qualifying for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
