Memorial Service For Martha Dismont On Aug 16
A memorial service for the late Martha Dismont will be held at the Willowbank Resort on Wednesday [August 16] at 3pm, with a reception to follow at Willowbank in their Ocean Dining Room.
The family said, “You are asked to wear colors that are found in nature [greens, browns and blues]. The service will also be streamed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to assist her family in memorial costs.”
Well known for her tireless work and advocacy efforts, Mrs. Dismont founded the Family Centre and spent many years working on behalf of families and the community.
She spearheaded the effort, and the achievement, of Family Centre becoming the first social service agency in Bermuda to receive international accreditation from the Council on Accreditation, co-founded the Inter Agency Committee for Children and Families and was given numerous awards in recognition of her exemplary service to Bermuda; to name a few, she was made a Honorary Fellow of Bermuda College, received the Queen’s Certificate of Honour, and was awarded a Member of the British Empire.
Her obituary notes ”there will always be a million beautiful words to say about Martha, but we will always remember her legacy and her desire to prioritize those three words: family, community, and love.”
