Photos: Aftermath Of Fire At Boat Storage Facility
Early this morning [Dec 14], the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a call reporting several boats on fire in St. George’s, and firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
Earlier today, a police spokesperson said, “Around 3:30am on Thursday, December 13th, Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service and police were dispatched to a report of several boats on fire at the Boatport storage facility on Wellington Slip Road, St. George’s.”

The BFRS said, “The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service wishes to provide an update to the community concerning the early morning fire incident located on Wellington Slip Road, St. George’s. We recognize that many in the surrounding community have been affected to some degree by this event and are interested in understanding the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
“The safety and well-being of the community remain our utmost priority. We would like to express our gratitude for the swift response of both the Structural and Airport Operations Divisions whose efforts helped minimize the impact of the fire.
“Fire operations continue, to ensure that deep seated fuel and flammable materials have been extinguished minimizing risk to the safety of our firefighters. No forensic fire investigation will commence until there is a complete extinguishment of the few fires that remain.
“We are mindful of the interest in specific details however we will provide updates when are in a position to do so. We appreciate the understanding and patience of the community as we work through this complex incident.”
