Poll Results: Politics, Caricom, Economy & More
Global Research recently conducted a poll to gauge voters’ opinions on governance and social issues in the country.
A spokesperson said, “Global Research [www.globalresearch.bm] is the Market Research leader for all sectors in Bermuda. Global Research conducted a poll with a representative sample of 402 registered voters from December 15-23, 2023. The aim of the poll was to determine voters’ opinions toward governance and social issues in Bermuda.
“The key findings of the poll were as follows:
- 8% stated that they were confident in the direction that Bermuda’s economy was headed, compared to 69% who stated that they were not confident.
- Economy/Unemployment [42%], Education [15%], Housing [14%], and Crime [11%] were named as the top issues facing Bermuda.
- 6% stated that they supported independence in Bermuda, 63% opposed it, and 31% were unsure.
- 19% stated that they supported Bermuda becoming a full member of CARICOM, 31% opposed it, and 50% were unsure.
- 14% approved of the PLP’s performance as Government, 58% disapproved, and 28% were unsure.
- 13% approved of the OBA’s performance as Opposition, 48% disapproved, and 40% were unsure.
- 16% approved of David Burt’s performance as Premier, 59% disapproved, and 26% were unsure.
- 18% approved of Jarion Richardson’s performance as Opposition leader, 17% disapproved, and 65% were unsure.
- If an election were held, 27% stated that they would vote PLP, 25% stated that they would vote OBA, and 18% stated that they were unsure.
