Cosplay Chaos Event At Bermuda College
[Written by Stephen Wright]
Lovers of anime, cartoons, comic books, manga and karaoke can celebrate their favourite characters at the Bermuda College Village’s Cosplay Chaos event at the student centre on Friday [March 22].
Students from the BC Village, a haven for the LGBTQ+ community, have joined forces with Anijoy Bermuda, an online business selling merchandise related to Japanese-style cartoons, to create the event in honour of the college’s Spirit Week.
Kennita Perry, the advisor for the BC Village and counsellor, said Cosplay Chaos was a “celebration of all things anime and pop culture” and described it as a family event.
It will feature multiple vendors, theatre-style movies, a customised Ramen station with BC alumni chef Zahra, specialised mocktails by MISXYZ, demonstrations by BC artists, Dungeon and Dragons, cosplay, and gaming competitions. There will also be music by E.T. FLava.
BC Village has also partnered with the BC Eco Club, whose students will host a trashion show, having created clothes from recycled items.
“This event was created and organised almost entirely by students, who are encouraged to openly be who they want to be and express themselves freely,” said Ms Perry, who will attend the event dressed as Inuyasha – the titular character from the Japanese manga series.
“The BC Village’s tagline is ‘Safe Space on Camus’, and this event will not disappoint.
“Anime, culture, inclusivity, identity, and eco-consciousness – all under one roof! It’s going to be epic.
“We will also give out little pins for free, saying, ‘You’re safe with me.’”
Admission for the event, which runs from 5 pm to 11 pm, is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for those aged five and under.
