Baltimore Blast Outdoor Game Called Off
An outdoor football game featuring David Bascome’s Baltimore Blast has been called off because of severe weather anticipated in the Baltimore area tomorrow [March 23].
The Baltimore Blast Spring Classic was to be the first-ever outdoor match in Major Arena Soccer League history, with the Blast facing the Dallas Sidekicks at the Johnny Unitas Stadium in Maryland.
The game will be declared a forfeit 3-0 win for the Sidekicks as per the agreement signed by both teams.
Ed Hale, the Blast team owner, said in a statement: “We are deeply sorry that the weather is the reason for the cancellation. Much planning went into this unique game. It will be a template for the next season weather permitting.”
Neither team can reach the play-offs in their respective divisions this season.
Bascome, a former North Village and Bermuda national team winger, was appointed as the Blast head coach in 2020, having previously served as the team’s assistant coach.
