BTA & Cornell Concludes ‘Bermuda Unveiled’
The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] recently introduced and completed an inaugural program “Bermuda Unveiled,” a 14-week collaboration between BTA and Cornell University’s Hotel School MMH class that offers an immersive journey into Bermuda’s tourism sector.
A spokesperson said, “Divided into seven groups, students focused on Bermuda’s National Tourism Plan Pillars of “AGILITY,” crafting innovative campaigns to promote year-round tourism that align with Bermuda’s strategic objectives.
“The project is a unique blend of academia and adventure, from the Cornell Alumni on island who came on as mentors for the students and all our presenters who presented on topics each week.”
Speaking on the partnership between the Bermuda Tourism Authority and Cornell University, Tracy Berkeley CEO of the BTA said, “The partnership with Cornell University represents a strategic effort by the BTA to link tourism with education and to showcase Bermuda’s unique offerings not just as a travel destination. We are thrilled with the success of “The Bermuda Unveiled” project and immersion trip and look forward to continuing our collaboration with Cornell and other institutions.”
Professor Alexei Tchistyi, Director of Graduate Studies and Associate Professor for Real Estate and Master of Management in Hospitality [MMH] at Cornell University, mentioned that “For the MMH students, the spring break trip to Bermuda was once in-a-lifetime experience that exceeded all expectations. Bermuda has many exceptional educational opportunities related to tourism, hospitality, international business, finance, and insurance. We would love to continue our partnership with the BTA.”
The spokesperson said, “The four-day agenda was extensive with educational tours and cultural engagements, including an in-depth that included exploration of the Royal Naval Dockyard, Bacardi’s Headquarters, Skyport at L.F. Wade International Airport, Doreen James’ Wild Herbs n Plants Tour, Kristin White’s Walking Tour, and more. Visits and meetings to Rosewood Bermuda, St. Regis Bermuda and a stakeholder panel discussion held at the Chamber of Commerce offered insights into the innovative strategies propelling Bermuda’s tourism sector.
