Amateur Stroke Play Championships Round 2
The Men’s Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championships continued today [June 22] with round two at the Port Royal Golf Club.
A spokesperson said, “This year the Men’s event boasts four divisions; a Championship, Senior Men’s Championship, a Men’s First Flight and a junior division.
“In the second round of the Men’s Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championship Division Kenny Leseur Jr. posted a four under par score of 67, to overtake first round leader Oliver Betschart. Leseur’s impressive round comprised of six birdies and two bogeys producing a two round total of 138. Betschart shot a one over par 72 as he slid into second with a combined total of 140. Adam Parry is holding down third place, only two shots behind second place with a two round total of 142. Damian Palanyandi shot the second best score of the day. He posted a two under par 69, with the highlight of the round being three straight birdies to open the back nine. He has a combined two round score of 144.
“In the Senior Men’s Championship returning visitor Scott Clark from Columbus, Georgia contiuned his impressive play with a second round score of 70. Clark holds a formidable eleven shot lead over second place Rod Forrest. Forrest carded a second round 78 to lead third place Hav Trott. Trott’s second round of 74 pushed him into third place two shots behind.
“The Men’s First Flight started today, with Andrew Yates carding a fine round of 76. He leads second place Diego McCallan. McCallan came in with a solid round of 78 to hold a one shot margin over Marnus de Lange.
“This year’s event marks the first time the men’s Amateur Stroke Play has included a junior golf division. After the opening round, Lewis Macfarlane raced to a commanding lead over Lachlan Soutter who is closely followed by Charlie Hopkin in third place.
“Final round scoring and results will be available on the Golf Genius app with the access code BSPC2024.”
