Bermuda Match Play Championship Results
The Bermuda Match Play Championships concluded on Sunday [July 7] with the final round held at the Port Royal Golf Course.
A spokesperson said, “The first semi final teed it off at 7:00am with defending champion Jarryd Dillas taking on Eric West and the 7:10am tee time was the second semi final match between the Adam Perry and Kenny Leseur. Dillas and West went 20 holes before West outlasted Dillas in a very competitive match. Perry overcame the inform Leseur on the 15th hole to book his spot in the final with West.
“In the final, Perry jumped out to a 2-up lead after 3 holes. West fought back to go 2 up at the turn. Perry missed a short putt on number 11 to give West a 3-up advantage. Perry managed to pull one back on 12 and 15 then made a miraculous chip-in on the signature 16th hole to draw the match even going to 17. Perry pared 17 with West missing his par putt to give Perry a 1-up lead going to the final hole.
“On the 18th, Perry flared his tee shot to the right rough in which he encountered some tree trouble for his second shot. West’s tee shot was in the middle of the fairway to give him the advantage to pull the match back to even. Perry’s approached shot went over the back of the green and stayed halfway up on the hillside. West stuck his approach shot to within 2’ of the pin. It was evident the match would need extra sudden death holes to decide the champion. Perry chipped to within 6’ feet with his third shot leaving him still away. Perry confidently made the putt to give him par. West was unable to make the birdie putt to extend the match.
“In the Consolation Stroke Play division, Chris Parry carded a low round 78 to take 1st gross over 1st Net winner Michael Kenny who shot 79.”
