Pacers Track Club To Compete In Canada
This weekend the Bermuda Pacers Track Club will continue to promote their track club overseas as they compete at the 2024 Flying Angels International Track and Field Championships the event which will be held on Friday July 5th, Saturday, July 6th and Sunday July 7th is hosted by the Flying Angels Track & Field Academy and will take place at York University’s Track and Field Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
The team consists of 39 athletes, 27 girls and 12 boys between the ages of 8 and 16. Eighteen athletes will be representing the club internationally for the first time. The 39-member team will compete in 94 individual events and 8 relay events.
Miles Outerbridge, the oldest athlete on the team, will compete in the 15-16 boys 100 and 200 meters. Outerbridge, who attends school at Mount Verd Academy earlier this year represented Bermuda at the 2024 Carifta Games. Outerbridge’s teammates are Surii Russell, Aaron Lugo, and Tobiah Goodchild.
Jaeda Grant will lead the 15-16 girls’ team. Grant, also a Carifta athlete, will compete in the 800, 1500 and 3000 meters Grant will have 3 other 15 -16-year-old girls, Lashae Jones, Azari Jones and Hannah Dill. Both Lashee and Azari competed at the 2024 Carifta games this year.
In the 13-14 girl’s divisions, the club will have a strong group of girls led by Zakhya Scott and Zyari Lawerence, both were recent individual champions in the BSSF Middle School Track and Field Championships. In the boys’ division, newcomers Evan Andrade and Nasir Johnson will lead this division. These young athletes will compete in 100, 200, 400 800,1500, and 3000 meters.
In the 11-12 girl’s division, the club will have another very strong team led by Sukanya Jobson and Jasmine Reid Rubaine. The 10 girls in this age group will compete in events ranging from the 100 meters to high jump. The 11-12 boys’ team will be led by Jemani Scott the new crowned primary school male Denton Hurdle Award winner. This teammate are Paz Lightbourne Francis, Ajani Trott and distance specialist Ronan Davidge.
In the 9-10 girls’ age group, the club will have 2 athletes competing, their events ranging from the 100 meters to the 1200 meters. They are Tamae Davis and Ava Clarke. The youngest member of the team is Giselle Reid Rubaine, she will compete in the 8 and under girl’s division in the 100, 200, 800 and long jump. The team will be accompanied to the meet by Pacers executive members, coaches and several parents.
