St. George’s Seafood Festival On September 15
The St. George’s Seafood Festival is set to take place on Sunday, September 15th
A spokesperson said, “The Corporation of St. George’s is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated St. George’s Seafood Festival, set to take place on September 15th, 2024, at Ordnance Island in the historic Town of St. George, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“The St. George’s Seafood Festival has quickly become a source of pride for the town, as it reflects and celebrates the town’s rich maritime heritage. This event resonates with the history that began with the arrival of Sir George Somers and the settlers, who relied on wild hogs and seafood for survival. The tradition of the Sunday morning breakfast of Codfish and Potatoes, now considered a culinary delicacy, continues to be shared with both residents and visitors alike.
“This year’s festival promises to be more engaging than ever, featuring a mix of returning favorites and new activities for all ages. Attendees can look forward to renowned seafood chefs showcasing their culinary expertise, popular snack vendors offering a variety of treats, and live entertainment to set the perfect seaside atmosphere. Plus, there will be activities designed especially for children.”
Mayor Quinell Francis, shared her excitement about the event, stating, “The St. George’s Seafood Festival was pioneered as a joint effort between the BTA and the Corporation of St. George’s to create a model that could join the national event circuit alongside VeganFest and the Taste of Bermuda. This year, we are excited to partner with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce for event and sponsorship management. This strategic relationship will elevate the Town of St. George and bolster businesses within the restaurant and entertainment sectors.”
The spokesperson said, “To streamline service and enhance the overall experience, this year’s festival will implement a ticket system for the purchase of food, beverages, and activities. Tickets will be available for purchase at the event or in advance online through our partner, the Bermuda Chamber, at this link. Enjoy your favorite meal or sample offerings from many vendors, as sampling is a new feature this year.
“As the event will take place on a Sunday, we would like to inform residents to anticipate increased activity in the areas of Tiger Bay, Water Street, King’s Square, and Ordnance Island in the days leading up to and on the day of the festival. We are pleased to offer free entry to the event, as well as complimentary parking at Tiger Bay.
