Astwood Named Defensive Player Of The Week
Naz Astwood has earned the Summit League Peak Defensive Performer of the Week award.
Astwood plays for the The University of Nebraska, and their report said, “A force behind his team’s 4-0 season start, Omaha’s Naz Astwood is the Mavericks’ first Summit League Peak Defensive Performer of the Week honoree for 2024.
“The senior from Warwick, Bermuda anchored a Mavericks defense which posted back to back clean sheets in the past week. In the two matches, Omaha allowed only ten shots on goal in 1-0 wins over San Francisco and Loyola Chicago.
“In the Loyola Chicago match Astwood chipped in on offense with a strong goal at 39:55, his first since Astwood’s freshman season and second career goal.
“An experienced physical presence in the back, Astwood has helped his team to the school’s first 4-0 start since 2017 and the second longest home win streak in school history (3). This is his first Summit League Peak Performer honor.”
