Beyoncé Wears Bermuda Jewelry Brand

David and Rose Zuill, the creative duo behind Bermuda’s Davidrose Studio, said they were thrilled when superstar Beyoncé shared Instagram photos wearing a ring from their Ocean Collection.

A spokesperson said, “On Saturday evening, David and Rose Zuill, the husband and wife team behind the Bermuda based jewelry brand Davidrose Studio, were sitting with other parents at a kid’s birthday party when they received a text from Bermudian celebrity stylist, Shiona Turini. There was no message – just a link to global superstar and style icon Beyoncé’s instagram account. Shocked, the Zuills saw that Queen Bee had posted images of herself wearing one of the rings from their Ocean Collection.”

“We started screaming. I couldn’t breathe. Everyone at the party was like what in the world is going on?” Rose Zuill says. “It was unimaginable, incredible, amazing…every word I can think of. Truly, truly a dream come true.”

A spokesperson added, “Since last year, Shiona has been creating incredible looks for Beyoncé, styling her Renaissance tour and working with her ever since. Highlighting Bermudian brands frequently, Shiona counts Davidrose as one of her favourites, listing them in a New York Times article earlier this year, “The Jewelry Shiona Turini Never Takes Off”. Rose gave Shiona the piece to use as she wished with any of her clients, and had no idea until seeing the pictures that Beyoncé had worn the ‘Drop of the Ocean’ Cocktail Ring to the Los Angeles Philharmonic to watch her sister Solange Knowles’ show, ‘Eldorado Ballroom’.

“Photographer Blair Caldwell captured Beyoncé in several images where the ring is prominent, including one with her hand placed right over her face.”

Rose Zuill explains, “The ring features the Bermuda Blue stone, exclusively created at Davidrose, and designed to capture the beauty of our oceans. It’s an eye-catching stone, and styled by Shiona alongside a muted-color suit, it really pops! We are just so full of emotion and gratitude to Shiona that she would choose to highlight our design in that way. And, we know that Beyoncé wouldn’t wear something she didn’t like so, as artists, to be affirmed by one of the greatest artists of all time – we are just so overwhelmed.”

A spokesperson added, “Davidrose reposted the images on their own Instagram account and there has been an incredible response from people around the world. Overnight, Davidrose’s instagram account [@davidrosestudio] grew by 2,000 followers, and they’ve received hundreds of emails about the ‘Drop of the Ocean’ ring. Web traffic on davidrosestudio.com has increased greatly, with orders coming in, and a few sizes of the ring already sold out.”

“It’s hard to process it all,” Rose Zuill says. “We’ve always been a global brand, but this will take us to another level. This has cemented us in Bermudian culture as a key brand, and reinforces the potential that Bermudian artisans have. Our small little island, this tiny little rock, has such talent. Look at Shiona – with her own career she’s already shown us what is possible. And now, she is so dedicated to hyping up Bermuda and Bermudians at every step of the way. We are so proud and thankful that she sees our brand as deserving this sort of recognition.”

It was there that they discovered their mutual passion for design and began dreaming up a jewelery collection centred around Bermuda’s seas, skies and stories. They opened their first location in St. George’s back in 2012. That store has since closed, and they have two locations, one on Front Street in the City of Hamilton and the newest in Dockyard.”
