Jordyn Morris On Lady Rams Family
[Written by Stephen Wright]
For Jordyn Morris, the North Village Lady Rams are more than just a netball club – they are family.
She first joined the Lady Rams’ youth programme at eight years old, where she nurtured her passion for the game and developed her skills.
By 15, she had already earned a spot on the senior team, quickly establishing herself as a key player and leader.
Over the years, her team-mates have become some of her closest friends, bonded by their shared victories, challenges, and unwavering support both on and off the court.
Meanwhile, Bernard Park – the heart of the Lady Rams and Bermuda netball – has become her second home, filled with fond memories and a deep sense of belonging.
“I’ve always enjoyed the community aspect of netball,” Morris told Bernews.
“I’ve played for the Lady Rams since childhood, and the team feels like a family.
“I’ve made so many friends through the sport. We hang out together outside of netball, and there’s always someone there to talk to if you need to.”
The 25-year-old’s netball journey began at West Pembroke Primary School before she continued honing her skills at Saltus Grammar School.
She later took her talents overseas to England, where she attended the University of Leicester and played for their netball team.
“University netball was a great experience,” said Morris, who plays as a goal attack or wing attack.
“It was very different from Bermuda in terms of the style of play and coaching.
“I had to adapt and relearn everything I knew. The level of fitness was beyond anything I’d experienced on the island.”
Despite the challenges, Morris remains optimistic about the progress of Bermudian netball.
“I believe Bermudian netball is in a better place than when I first started playing at the senior level,” she said.
“Not only is the Bermuda Netball Association trying to improve the standard of play but also the standard of umpiring.
“We need to work together, and I’ve no doubt we’ll get there.”
A former Bermuda Under-16 player, Morris has been in stellar form this season, recently scoring 33 points in Lady Rams’ dominant 57-15 victory over Dockies.
However, she believes her team have even more potential and hopes they can push themselves further next season.
“We’re not doing as amazing as we’d have liked,” she added.
“Hopefully, we can finish the season hard. I’d like to see us train hard as a group. I think that’s reflected in our performances and results.”
