Village Gathering To Be Held On October 19
The Village Gathering event will be held on Saturday [Oct 19] from 4.00pm to 5.30pm at Victor Scott School Hall.
A spokesperson said, “The collaboration geared to enhance community by staging the Village Gathering to inspire and empower Parents, on Saturday, October 19th from 4 – 5.30 pm at Victor Scott School Hall, has already had some positive impact. The template for this ‘expo – styled’ event; has sparked the committed interest of stakeholders – clubs, churches and schools – in the greater-Warwick area.
“This Saturday will include 20 stakeholder reps – ranging from a Math-specialist offering family-friendly tips; a doctor, an accountant on family-budgeting and reps from the Family Centre and others. A key component of the event, will be the offering of an accessible ‘Guide’ to the scores of services from Government & community-based sources which leverage parenting – some of which are free.
“This grassroots initiative has tapped into an understanding that by letting families know that ‘they are not alone’, the resultant solidarity strengthens the fabric of our community. This has restorative implications for those caught in anti-social cycles. To this end, this effort has attracted a number of diverse volunteers – willing to emerge from ‘silos’ – in the knowledge that ‘Together, we are stronger in the Village’.
“With this support, the Gathering is able to offer free fun activities for young people and free light meals to the first 100 attendees.
“As Humans, we are social learners; consequently, stakeholders in the greater-Warwick area have already committed stage another Village Gathering by the end of 2024 with the same free offerings.”
