The Royal Bermuda Regiment Band hosted the “Conductors In Action” Band Reunion event.
A spokesperson said, “The Royal Bermuda Regiment Band held a Band Reunion on Friday, 15 November 2024. The reunion titled Conductors In Action brought together former Directors Major Kenneth Dill, Major Leslie Lowe, Major Barrett Dill, Major Dwight Robinson, and current Band Officer Lieutenant Sheldon Fox II. It was a night of good camaraderie with band members former and present, some of whom had not entered the gates of Warwick Camp in over 30 years.
“The night was opened with a poem written by Colour Sergeant Gerald Swan titled Remembering The Batons.
“Selections played were BMA Hymn [a tribute to deceased Capt Horace Gibbons], Abide with Me, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Silver Anniversary March, Free World Fantasy, Mansions Of The Lord, and Pomp & Circumstance No. 4.
“After the selections, Maj Kenneth Dill presented Band Officer, Lt Sheldon Fox II, the Director’s baton, the baton he received in 1974 for winning a conductors competition held in the UK. He said after holding it for 50 years, he presented it to him to encourage him to reach for the stars in spite of any obstacles.
“He told him obstacles are what we see when we lose sight of the goal. Major Robinson, the immediate former Director, did the official handover to Band Officer Sheldon Fox II. It was a memorable night that everyone enjoyed.”
