Young Sailors Begin Orange Bowl Regatta
A group of young Bermudian sailors are flying the flag for the island at the 2024 Tuuci Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta in Florida, competing against some of the best young sailors in the world.
With challenging conditions testing their skills, the Bermudians are holding their own in the Optimist, Green Fleet, and ILCA 6 classes.
In the highly competitive ILCA 6 class, Dylan Menzies is representing Bermuda, facing a fleet of 96 boats. After a demanding two races, Menzies sits in 40th place with 42 points.
The Optimist fleet boasts a staggering 222 boats. Benjamin DeCouto is currently the leading Bermudian, holding 126th place with 125 points after three races. Rex Henagulph follows closely in 136th with 130 points, while Calypso Coulter sits in 157th with 155 points.
Sean Pedro [165th place], Aaron Riker [180th place], James DeCouto [199th place], and Alfie Jansma [210th place] round out the Bermudian contingent in the Optimist class, all gaining valuable experience in this challenging fleet.
In the Green Fleet, Jacob Beale leads the Bermudian charge in 39th place with 85 points after two races. Hudson Pitcher is close behind in 42nd with 87 points. Ethan Adelsberg [58th place] and Eamon Tiwari [59th place] are also competing hard in this 72-boat fleet.
