“Women continue to play a critical role in the BMA’s labour force, and significant progress has been made in having women serve in a number of senior positions and on the Board of Directors. The BMA will continue to leverage the benefits of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion [DEI] goals and strategies, including those relating to gender.”

“There is no one easy answer to achieving gender parity, but there is a right mindset, and that mindset needs to consistently reflect on the value and benefits of DEI, with a specific focus on gender balance,” said Shanna Lespere, Deputy CEO.

“The BMA will continue to widen the career pathways for women across the Authority by providing the tools and opportunities for our up-and-coming female talent so they can someday have a seat at the leadership tables.”

The spokesperson said, “IWD, celebrated annually on 8 March, was established to bring attention to global women’s achievements. Each year, IWD focuses on a campaign with a call to action aimed at accelerating gender parity and advancing its mission. This year’s global call to action is ‘accelerate action’ [#AccelerateAction]. “The mission of IWD includes advancing and elevating the women who are driving change in technology, communities and workplaces, forging inclusive work cultures and support for women’s careers, celebrating the accomplishments of female creatives and athletes, and promoting activities that uplift and inspire women to pursue their goals free of barriers and biases.”
