City Hosting ‘Discover Hamilton’ Walking Tour
The City of Hamilton invites residents and visitors to explore the city’s rich history with the return of its free ‘Discover Hamilton’ walking tour, led by award-winning Town Crier Ed Christopher.
A spokesperson said, “The 2025 season kicks off on Tuesday, April 1, with tours running Monday to Friday at 10:30am through to December 31. Departing from the steps of City Hall, the tour lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, offering a lively and engaging journey through Hamilton’s past—uncovering stories behind iconic landmarks such as Nellie’s Walk, The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, Doctor’s Row, and many more. Consistently rated among the top experiences on TripAdvisor, the tour has earned a stellar reputation for its mix of storytelling, history, and local charm.
“Celebrating over 30 years as Hamilton’s Town Crier, Ed draws on decades of research and generations of oral history to bring the city’s past to life with energy, insight, and humor. Whether your interest lies in local heroes, historic buildings, or life in old Bermuda, Ed customizes each tour to suit the group—making every walk a unique experience.”
“While immensely popular with overseas guests, this year’s campaign also encourages locals to reconnect with the stories of their own city. “There’s so much we pass by every day without realizing the significance,” said Mr. Christopher. “Hamilton is full of history waiting to be rediscovered. I want our residents to walk away seeing their City through a new lens—one that’s deeply personal, meaningful, and full of pride.”
A spokesperson added, “Hotel concierges and vacation rental hosts are encouraged to share the tour with visitors looking for a fun, insightful, and no-cost way to experience Bermuda’s capital. It’s also a great option for guests staying with friends or family to enjoy the island’s history with a knowledgeable local guide.
“Tours are free of charge, wheelchair accessible, and include complimentary water. While walk-ins are welcome, guests are encouraged to reserve in advance through the City of Hamilton website at www.cityofhamilton.bm or by emailing events@cityhall.bm to ensure availability. Gratuities are appreciated.
“In addition to the daily tour, Ed also offers private bookings, school tours, and other custom experiences by request. To learn more, contact him directly at towncrier@cityhall.bm.”
