Special Olympics Bermuda hosted their Polar Plunge fundraising event today [March 15] at Shelly Bay Beach.
A spokesperson previously said, “The Polar Plunge is part of a Special Olympics trademarked global tradition typically held on January 1. While other regions host this event under frigid conditions, Bermuda benefits from much warmer plunge conditions despite being outside of the typical Bermuda swim period.
“As a registered charity [#972], Special Olympics Bermuda provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to create opportunities for athletes to enhance their physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and connect with their families and the broader community.”
