Planet Math Wraps Up 2025 ‘Math A Thon’
Planet Math’s 2025 Math+A+Thon engaged thousands of students across more than 25 schools with fun, interactive math challenges designed to inspire a love for learning.
A spokesperson said, “Planet Math has successfully concluded its 2025 Math+A+Thon, a dynamic, island-wide initiative that brought interactive mathematics experiences to over 25 primary and middle schools across Bermuda. Launched in February and running through May, the programme reached thousands of students with engaging, hands-on activities designed to foster a love for math and critical thinking.
“The Math+A+Thon, supported by Global Atlantic, featured live math challenges, team competitions, and real-world problem-solving exercises. Each participating student received a specially designed workbook, with over 3,300 copies distributed thanks to Global Atlantic’s generous sponsorship. Additionally, Global Atlantic generously provided gifts, trinkets, and t-shirts for all participating contestants. In alignment with the promotion of this partnership, each school received two summer camp bursaries designated for deserving students of their choice. This initiative culminated in a total of 50 scholarships awarded to our youth, reflecting our commitment to their growth and development.”

It was fun, engaging, and thoughtfully designed to challenge students in applying their learned math skills in real-world, problem-solving scenarios. The math problems were Bermudianized in a creative way, using local references and familiar scenarios that helped students connect their learning to real life in Bermuda. The competitive element added excitement while reinforcing teamwork and critical thinking. It was a meaningful and memorable way to celebrate math learning in action,” remarked West End Principal, Mrs. Nerissa Gilbert.
The spokesperson said, “Parents also observed positive changes in their children’s attitudes toward math.
“One parent shared that, “their kid couldn’t stop talking about all the fun they had in school that day and that they want to now go to Planet Math this summer. For me, it’s truly inspiring to see such an immediate impact from a one-day event, kudos to Planet Math for continuing to bring joy to our young ones. It really warms my heart to see my child excited about mathematics of all subjects!”
