EvotoExordium, which was set up to help global companies incorporate in Bermuda, is today celebrating its first full year of operations.

The company was launched in the summer of 2024 by Helen Souza, Chief Executive Officer of Exordium, with a vision to make it easier set up a business.

“You have to navigate regulation, immigration, hiring local talent, office rental… that is just the start,” said Ms Souza. “You need someone on-island who can help you, advise you, and help you come up with a realistic strategy.”

The service is aimed at financial services, insurance, reinsurance, and fintech companies who want to either set up or acquire a Bermuda company. Exordium has a particular focus on insurance, reinsurance, captives, insurance-linked securities [ILS], fintech, high net worth individuals, asset managers, family offices, and service providers.

Exordium has so far helped close to a dozen companies who have been considering incorporating in Bermuda. The company’s clients are predominantly from the UK, US, and Canada.

Ms Souza has a background in banking and captive management, as well as working at the Bermuda Business Development Agency and has an extensive network of contacts in the international business community on the island.

“My experience and knowledge have laid the foundation for setting up this company,” Ms Souza said. “And the time is right. Bermuda has always been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to risk management. Now it is adding to that expertise with innovative insurtech and fintech companies looking to incorporate in this jurisdiction. Bermuda has an established track record for large companies wanting to set up shop quickly and efficiently, in an ecosystem that understands and caters to their business.”

She said that during the year she has noticed a new trend of technology service providers to the insurance and reinsurance market looking to set up shop in Bermuda.”
