BHCS Present Safe Hands Award To Alex Dore
Bermuda HealthCare Services [BHCS] presented the 2025 Calvin ‘Bummy’ Symonds-Dennis Wainwright Safe Hands Award to Alex Dore of Somerset.
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda HealthCare Services [BHCS] today presented the 2025 Calvin ‘Bummy’ Symonds-Dennis Wainwright Safe Hands Award to Alex Dore, a promising colt from the Somerset Cricket Club.
“Dore shone in this year’s Cup Match Classic with two superb one-handed catches while fielding close to the batter. His sharp anticipation, safe hands, and commitment in the field earned him the award. To be recognized so early in his Cup Match career highlights both his talent and his potential to become one of Bermuda’s finest cricketers.

“This year’s presentation carried special meaning following the recent passing of cricket legend Dennis Wainwright, who administered the award for many years.”
New administrator Mr. Vincent Hollinsid remarked: “I am deeply honoured to take on the administration of the BHCS Calvin ‘Bummy’ Symonds-Dennis Wainwright Safe Hands Award, following the passing of my dear friend Dennis Wainwright. For many years, Dennis managed this award with such commitment, and it is truly a privilege to continue his legacy.
The spokesperson said, “In addition, BHCS recognized Ms. Glenice Simmons, a third-year Biomedical Science student at the University of Kent. Simmons has interned with BHCS for three consecutive summers, contributing to important biomedical work while preparing for her future career.”
BHCS Founder and Executive Chairman, Dr. Ewart Brown, expressed pride in the dual celebration: “Today we honour excellence on two fronts, on the cricket field with Alex Dore’s outstanding performance, and in the sciences with Glenice Simmons’ dedication to her studies and her contributions to BHCS.
