Athletes Win National Titles At Hiscox Squash

The Hiscox Bermuda Junior National Squash Championships concluded at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association Club in Devonshire with nine athletes securing national titles.

Eli Carpol, the second seed, won the Boys Under 19 title by defeating top seed Andrew Cox in three games. Carpol recorded scores of 11-3, 11-4, and 11-3 to claim the championship.

The Girls Under 19 title was determined through a round-robin format after all competitors finished with one win and one loss. Olivia Sherratt was awarded the championship based on game percentages. Sherratt’s performance included a four-game victory over Somers Stevenson and a five-set loss to McKenna Kyme, who won the final frame of their match 11-6.

In the Boys Under 17 Final, Michael Schrah defeated William Frith in a five-set match lasting 38 minutes. Schrah won the deciding set 11-8 to secure the division title.

The Boys Under 13 division saw Edward Ross advance through the semi-finals after a five-set match against Cameron Shailer. Ross led by two games before Shailer won the third and fourth sets. Ross won the fifth set 11-3 to progress.

In the Boys Under 11 semi-finals, Roman Shaw defeated Zack McClure in five games. The match lasted 23 minutes and concluded with an 11-9 score in the final set.

The tournament served as the official national championship for junior squash players in Bermuda, utilizing the Devonshire facility for all scheduled matches across the age [Under 11 to Under 19] categories.
