KPMG Lourens de Coning Bermuda Jan 2026KPMG in Bermuda has promoted Lourens de Coning to Director in Financial Risk Management [FRM], effective January 1, 2026.

A spokesperson said, “Lourens has been pivotal in expanding the firm’s life, annuity and health [re]insurance capabilities, helping clients address significant recent regulatory and accounting change, unlock growth and manage risk with confidence. His work spans both advisory and audit support across the life and health sector, including Approved Actuary engagements, reserving validation [across Regulatory, US GAAP and IFRS frameworks], product pricing, capital calculations, licence application support, independent expert, governance and model risk management, as well as actuarial transformation.

“Lourens has played a key role in accelerating the growth of our dedicated life and health actuarial practice in Bermuda, to complement our non-life actuarial practice, given Bermuda’s growing strength as a globally recognised life [re]insurance market. Under his leadership, the practice is expanding to meet strong client demand, supporting new advisory mandates and onboarding significant life and health audit engagements. A trusted adviser in the life and health market, Lourens works closely with regulators and industry bodies to help our clients achieve compliance and enabling growth.

“Lourens is a Chartered Fellow Actuary of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and a Fellow Actuary of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.
