Video: Bermudian Launches Hockey Series
Bermudian creator, showrunner and director Alex Scrymgeour is behind a new ice hockey television series that premiered in Canada yesterday [February 6].
The series, Hockey Fanatics, aired on Crave, owned by Bell Media.
Each episode visits a different North American city to explore the fans and culture surrounding its local hockey team.
The programme is hosted by comedian Dave Foley and features guest appearances from actor Mike Myers and country music singer Wynonna Judd.
Also working on the series is Bermudian creative director Ian Tucker, who handled the branding and graphics.

Scrymgeour and Tucker have worked together for more than 30 years on television projects in Bermuda and Canada.
They first met in 1995 while working at Fresh Creations.
“I got my start in Bermuda and none of my career would have been possible without Elmore Warren and Peter Backeberg,” Scrymgeour told Bernews.
“In the summer of 1995, I saw the Fresh Creations van parked outside my house. I ran inside, printed my resume, and left it on the dashboard. A week later, Elmore called me saying he liked my initiative,” he said.
“That summer changed my life. Elmore was the first person to tell me, ‘Scrimmy, you can do this. Don’t give up,’” Scrymgeour said.
He added that Warren later gave him his first on-air television break in 2003 when he was hired to host and produce the Fresh TV morning show BDA.M.
Scrymgeour said editor Peter Backeberg also played a key role in his development.

“When I worked at The Mid-Ocean News, Peter taught me how to tighten my writing and creative endeavours,” he said.
Scrymgeour and Tucker are also executive producers on Accessible Planet, a travel television series created, written and directed by Scrymgeour and hosted by Eddie McGee.
The show explores accessibility in destinations from Toronto to the Côte d’Azur and is currently being offered to broadcasters.
“Bermuda invented modern-day resort-style tourism. Travel and tourism are at our core,” Scrymgeour said.
“The travel shows I create are a tribute to my Bermudian heritage, and I always try to represent my island home in the best way possible.”
