The Menuhin Foundation marks its 50th anniversary with a free “Music In The Park” concert on March 7, 2026, at Victoria Park, featuring student orchestras, ensembles, and soloists from 2:00–5:00 p.m.

A spokesperson said, “The Menuhin Foundation [Charity #118] will mark its 50th anniversary with a free, familyfriendly “Music In The Park” concert on Saturday, March 7th from 2-5pm at Victoria Park. The concert will feature the Foundation’s orchestras [Adult, First, Intermediate, and Youth], ensembles [trios & quartets], and soloist Juliana Tothong & Dylan Jeffrey [2nd place winners of the 2026 Menuhin Scholarship Competition].

“Founded in 1976, under the patronage of legendary violinist Baron Yehudi Menuhin, the Foundation was created with a simple but powerful mission: to bring the love of stringed instrument to Bermuda’s children, regardless of background or circumstance. Over the past fifty years, the Foundation’s commitment has introduced thousands of young people to violin, viola, and cello. Through music lessons, students have discovered discipline, confidence, creativity, and the lasting joy and benefits that come from learning and playing music. While not all former students choose to pursue music professionally, the skills and values gained through their musical education have empowered many to thrive and achieve success in a wide variety of careers and leadership roles throughout the community.”

Chairperson of the Menuhin Foundation Board of Trustees, Verde Brown said, “The Menuhin Foundation is proud of its longstanding contribution to the Bermuda community, having provided free music education to thousands of Bermudian students over several decades through the P4 Programme. This initiative has now expanded to include pilot programs at the P5 and P6 levels in selected schools, In planning the 50 th anniversary celebration, one of our main motivations was to share the joy of music with the broader community. By moving the Foundation’s spring concert which is typically held indoors to Victoria Park, we wanted to make the event more accessible and inviting to allow everyone in the community to experience the talent and passion of our students [and adult orchestra].”

The spokesperson added, “Grab your picnic blanket or chair and join us for a wonderful outdoor concert perfect for families and friends. Savor an exciting blend of classical masterpieces and contemporary favorites performed by young musicians. Local food vendors will be on hand to indulge in food/treats, while children enjoy engaging activities hosted by the Menuhin Foundation. Don’t miss this community celebration filled with music, laughter, and fun for all ages!

“Music in the Park is part of a series of events commemorating The Menuhin Foundation’s 50 year anniversary celebration. On Saturday, February 21 st , the Menuhin Foundation held Wine & Strings, a special anniversary wine tasting that brought together alumni, supporters, parents, and friends to honor the organization’s legacy. Attendees were serenaded throughout the night by the Adult Orchestra and teachers of the Menuhin Foundation. The Adult orchestra meets every Saturday – they are a living proof that when a child begins learning an instrument, it can become a lifelong love. Seeing students grow up and continue to play is the true legacy of the Menuhin Foundation. We see this echoed yearly, when parents and grandparents gather at our annual concert. They often express memories of being a part of the Menuhin Foundation growing up.
