Bermuda International 7s Rugby This Weekend
The Bermuda Rugby Football Union is set to welcome teams from across the USA and Canada this month as the Bermuda International 7s returns to the National Sports Centre for its milestone 10th anniversary edition, taking place March 20–21, 2026.
A spokesperson said, “Now firmly established as a standout fixture on the spring rugby calendar, the Bermuda International 7s combines high-tempo competition with a one-of-a-kind island experience, bringing together high school and collegiate programmes for two days of fast-paced, high-quality rugby. The event is proudly supported by the Bermuda Tourism Authority, reflecting its growing role as a premier sport tourism experience for visiting teams and supporters.
“This year’s tournament will feature an exciting line-up of international teams, including Rowan University, Vassar College, Upright Rugby Quebec, and Chicago Lions High School, alongside Bermuda’s own representative sides at both the college and high school level. Across both divisions, players can expect a competitive format with pool play leading into knockout rounds, guaranteeing multiple matches and meaningful game time for all teams.
“Celebrating a decade of international rugby in Bermuda, the 2026 edition marks a significant milestone for the event, which has grown steadily since its inception into a recognised platform for player development, international exchange, and recruitment opportunities.
“Set against the backdrop of Bermuda’s National Sports Centre, the tournament offers more than just rugby. Visiting teams will experience a fully supported tour environment, including accommodation, catering, and transport, as well as the opportunity to explore Bermuda’s renowned beaches, culture, and hospitality.
“The continued growth and success of the Bermuda International 7s is a reflection of the strong partnerships behind the event. The Bermuda Rugby Football Union extends its appreciation to the Bermuda Tourism Authority, whose partnership reflects the tournament’s role in showcasing Bermuda as a premier destination for international sport tourism.
“This year, BRFU has worked closely with Jess Dombrowski, whose experience within USA Rugby and extensive network across the North American rugby landscape has been instrumental in connecting programmes to the tournament. Her insight into touring team needs, player pathways, and collegiate recruitment has helped shape an event experience that is both competitive and meaningful.”
Dombrowski added: “I’ve really enjoyed working alongside Bermuda Rugby to help grow interest in this event and connect teams to such a unique international experience. It’s been great to see several new teams joining us this year, and we’re already having conversations with many more programmes considering 2027. I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s competition.”
Gemma Godfrey, President of the Bermuda Rugby Football Union, said: “As we celebrate 10 years of the Bermuda International 7s, we are incredibly proud of how this event has evolved. It’s not just about the rugby. It’s about creating opportunities, building connections, and giving young athletes an experience they will carry with them long after the final whistle. We’re excited to welcome both new and returning teams to the island and look forward to an unforgettable weekend of competition.”
A spokesperson added, “Matches will take place across Friday evening and Saturday at the National Sports Centre, with teams competing in a festival-style environment that balances intensity on the field with a welcoming and social atmosphere off it.
“Spectators are encouraged to attend and support the action, with a full schedule of matches, on-site concessions, and a vibrant tournament atmosphere throughout the weekend.
“As the Bermuda International 7s enters its second decade, the focus remains clear: delivering high-quality rugby, fostering international friendships, and continuing to grow the game both locally and abroad.”
