Barnes said the Rock Island Grand Prix had played a major role in his racing career. He explained that achieving the ranking while coming from a small island and being unable to race his own karts made it an accomplishment he valued highly.

He also reflected on his many second- and third-place finishes at the event, saying he felt he could have added further victories to his total.

Barnes described street racing as a particular passion, highlighting how it differs from racing on permanent tracks and the difficulty of winning at Rock Island.

He thanked those who had made the event possible over the years and expressed hope that it would return next year, giving him another opportunity to add to his tally.
