Munya & Montverde Win FHSAA State Title
Bermudian middle-distance runner Amaris Munya contributed to a team victory as Montverde Academy secured the Florida High School Athletic Association [FHSAA] Class 2A State Championship title at UNF-Hodges Stadium.
The championship event featured high school athletes from across the state. Munya’s efforts in both relay and individual events earned points toward Montverde Academy’s overall standing, helping the program solidify its position at the top of the Class 2A division.
In the 4 x 800-meter relay, Munya ran the anchor leg for the Montverde squad. The team finished in sixth place with a recorded time of 9:38.37.
Munya also competed in the individual 800-meter final. Facing a field of the state’s top qualifiers, she finished 10th overall with a time of 2:20.40.
