Photos & Video: Admiralty House Park

March 13, 2010

Located in Spanish Point off the North Shore, Admiralty House Park is a myriad of things; beautiful, historic as well as a popular local hangout.

Two centuries ago the park was the Headquarters for Atlantic division of the British Royal Navy, and once housed a navy hospital as well as the residence of a British Admiral. The beach area is called Clarence Cove, named after the Duke of Clarence.

With caves spanning the coastline, a fitness trail along the grounds, and lush foliage, Admiralty House truly does represent some of the best of Bermuda’s beauty. During the summer it is a popular local hangout, with children seen playing on the dock, as well as scaling the ‘rocks’ to jump off.

The beautiful parkland has seen it share of tragedy. In 1990 Mark Martin died in a tragic boating accident in the surrounding waters. In 1994 Reginald Chesterfield Wilson was murdered there after drinking there with two men; Sean Smith and Jamel Smith whom both plead guilty and were jailed. In 2010 the clothes of 26 year old British expat Martin Molinski were found in the area, with his body being found a few days later in St. Georges.
