49 Yr Old Canadian Found Dead

At 11:34am today [April 23], Police responded to a report of a sudden death that took place at a Devon Spring Road, Devonshire residence.

A 49 year old Canadian guest worker was found in an “unresponsive state” inside a home in the area. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The police state that no further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified. The deceased’s relatives reside overseas.

Bernews understand the gentleman was a naturalized Canadian and had been residing in Bermuda for some years, and was scheduled to leave the island, but did not – possibly in default of local immigration regulations. He worked for a contracting firm.

A police spokesman said that foul play has not been ruled out, and they also stated that inquiries into this incident are underway.

ZBM news reports that although Police would not confirm the statement, sources told them it may possibly be a case of suicide.

Update April 24: According to the Royal Gazette, the man was found hanging in the house.
