Cancellations & Closures Due to Tropical Storm

[Updated] Tropical Storm Colin is expected to affect the island today [Sat, Aug 7], passing within 27 miles of Bermuda at approximately 11 pm tonight, with forecasters warning we can expect tropical storm force winds of 30 to 40 knots, high surf conditions, heavy rain and thunderstorms from this afternoon until tomorrow morning. We will update with cancellations as we become aware of them.

Cancellations and closures for today include:

  • The “Pink Party” scheduled for tonight at Snorkel Park is postponed to next week Saturday. Your advance tickets will be valid, however if you would like to arrange ticket refunds, contact your sales promoter, call 234-6989 or email info “at” snorkelparkbeach.com.
  • Westjet, American, Delta, and Continental flights for today are all cancelled
  • Bermuda Cricket Board’s Womens Super 6 League tournament scheduled for today has been cancelled, and will now be held on August 21st at 9:30am at the National Stadium
  • Capital G Bank Limited and the Capital G Bank Call Centre will close early at 12pm today
  • The lifeguard towers at Horseshoe Bay, John Smiths Bay, Clearwater Beach, Turtle Beach and Long Bay Coopers Island are closed until Monday August 9th, however should weather and resources allow the lifeguards will attempt to resume operations sometime on the 8th
  • The Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve will be closed to the public until further notice.

Sunday August 8th Cancellations:

  • Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club’s Round 7 of the Heart 2 Heart National Championship Series scheduled for Sunday, August 8th has been cancelled due to the Tropical Storm warning. The next scheduled event will be August 22nd.
  • As of 9:00am on Sunday, three flights today are cancelled; American Airlines flight 1325 [Miami], Continental flight 1650 [New Jersey], and American Airlines flight 1443 [New York].
