Upcoming: BMRC Annual Charity Poker Run

December 3, 2010

The Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club (BMRC) Annual Charity Ride will be Sunday December 12, and riders will meet at the City Hall Car Park at 10:00am for a 10:30am departure and ride to Astwood Park.

At 11.10am the group will depart Astwood Park and ride to the Clock Tower at Dockyard, leaving there at 12.00pm and ride to Shelly Bay. The party will leave Shelly Bay at 1:00pm and ride to Town Square in St. George’s and then at 2:00pm they will depart St. George’s and ride to John Smith’s Bay where the Winner of Poker Run will be announced at approximately 2:55pm.

As they have done in previous years, rather than charge an entry fee for the ride, they will be doing a Poker Run. That allows each rider to decide how much to contribute towards the charity. Each entry form for the Poker Run will cost $20. Riders can purchase as many entry forms as they wish.

At each of the five stops (Astwood Park, Dockyard, Shelly Bay, St. Georges & John Smiths Bay), a playing card will be dealt for each entry form and will be recorded on the form. At the final stop, and after five cards have been dealt to each entry form, they will determine who has the winning hand.

The rider with the winning hand will win 50% of the entry fees. The remaining half of the entry fees will be donated to the Sunshine League (although the winner usually donates their winnings to the charity).

This ride is open to members and non-members riding classic or non-classic bikes. In other words, anyone can participate. The BMRC are hoping for a fun event that will assist a good cause, and they are encouraging everyone to come along.
