The accident occurred in Sandys parish, and the driver and sole occupant, was removed from the vehicle by emergency personnel and taken to the hospital via ambulance for assessment.

A Police spokesman said, “Around 12:40pm on Friday, Police responded to a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Morgan Hill (Scaur Hill area).”

“Details about the collision are unclear at this time; however it appears that a car was traveling along Somerset Road when it collided with an embankment, causing it to overturn.”

“The driver and sole occupant, a 78 year old man, was extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for assessment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.”

This is the second time this week emergency personnel have had to remove someone from an overturned vehicle, following an incident on Berry Hill Road this past Monday, in which a 38-year-old woman was lifted from the car.

I saw the car overturned and I was astonished. Glad the gentleman made it out alive.

  2. He says she says:

There are far too many embankments around. Government does nothing of course. That and SUVs. Should be banned.

    • For Real says:

There is no need to ban SUV’s. Just create a special license class to drive them and require a more stringent test as you do for the Truck license.

    • Terry says:

After a comment like that someone is not listening to what she says………I need a joint after that one…

  3. He says she says:

Am jess sayin that these embankments have got to be stopped! That and SUVs too – its all too much.

Its as if Government doesn’t care!!

I don’t know of ANY Government in the WORLD that can fix every everything. Let’s see maybe its the UK Government that has a fix for lil ole Bermuda, or maybe its the Canadian Government. We know for sure its not the US Government. So for ALL you damn people that like to cry, go find me a 100% Let’s Fix it Government.

  6. itsme says:

Oh I forgot to add, while Government goes around building sidewalks on EVERY road from Somerset to St. George’s and North Shore to Shore Shore, let EVERY OWNER give the Government 4 feet of their property, so that are already narrow roads, will be able to handle the additional sidewalks.
And since we going to ban SUV’s. lets just BAN everything that has wheels.
If we BAN all bikes, that should cut down on Road fatalities.
If we BAN all cars, NO more speeders late night or drunk drivers ( Hip Hip Horray for CADA )
If we BAN all trucks, The City of Hamilton would be a wonderful place to walk daily.
Let’s BAN the airplanes and boats too, that way Bermuda could be an island ALL too itself.

People drive way too close to sidewalks and walls….I should do my own video documentry….people don’t understand their car width, they either drive to close to the yellow line or be shaving walls and sidealks!

I’d be driving on harbour road behind these side swiping drivers and be like damn, they gonna hurt themselves in that car any minute!

Hope driver makes a full recovery.
