Please no. I call on government to stop this show asap. Tourism is already slow.

  2. Finger licking good says:

Did I not just read that KFC’s profits had declined? Perfect opportunity to boost their sales renevue by sponsoring the event.

    • So Predictable! says:

It’s definetely idiots that make up our society… Don’t be so rude and foolish…

  3. JAI says:

U GUYS ARE LOSERS MAKING THOSE COMMENTS . GO HEADS GIRLS DO YA THANG … YOUR ALL BEAUTIFUL !!!

  4. astounded says:

I agree with Jai…….. although obesity is Bermuda’s #1 health problem and health care costs are soaring and we are all paying for it. should we realy be promoting obesity?

    • So Predictable! says:

Please listen to yourself. How is this promoting obesity. Not everyone is a size 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 10. I CAN GO ON! We need to be more open to all people and stop categorizing big people as being fat simply because you thing they are downing too much KFC. Get Real please!!!

      • So Predictable! says:

Additionally Heart Health, Cancer and Diabetes are amongst the top health problems in this country and you do not have to be obeise to have either of these. Someone who weighs 140 lbs that is skinny can be obeise. As proper practice Bermudians need to remain as active as possible to conteract the health issues in this country. No one in this photo looks extremely overwieght. So please do give these ladies a bit more credit because you don’t know what their daily habits are. See you at the show!

  5. Sheriff says:

        * My guess is, you are probable just angry because Bermuda doesn’t have a STUPID & UGLY pagent!! *

That competition runs every Friday in the Sessions House ! !

(ps , these gals often display more grace than the ‘regular Ms Bda’ entrants )

    • Kam says:

ATTN.: “Sheriff”, “Astounded”, “Jimmy”, and “Finger Licking Good”

LET me tell you and the rest of the fools making these horrible comments that one of these young ladies is my SISTER!!!!

She eats healthy and has no health problems AT ALL!!!!! It just so happens that not being a size 2, 4 and 6 runs in her parents genes.

I only have two words for ppl like you.

      • LOL (original) says:

Manners and respect are not being taught any more as we can all see. Thank you to all the people in the public eye and ear for playing your part to getting us here from politicians, rude cops, Judge Judies, Col. Burch’s to ever day people like us. Only we can turn it around………..

        LOL

    • Intelligence says:

O.k……. you sound really ANAL!!!!!!!!!! Grow up!

    • donna says:

AND YOU WIN ASS OF THE YEAR

  6. B Outerbridge says:

These ladies have every right to be confident. Good luck ladies I will be in the audience cheering!

  7. Curious says:

In all seriousness, what are the requirements to be in this pageant? Is there a weight minimum? Do we need to fill out a form and get accepted or are there certain requirements? I am 5″8′ and weigh 110 – in MY eyes, I think I am big and not so bad looking. Can someone like me be in the pageant or would I be discriminated against?

    • Miss Big & Beautiful 2010 says:

Any woman age 18+ and at least a size fourteen can enter. Although entry for this year is over, you should try out next year. If you do try, good luck!!

    • LOL (original) says:

5’8″ and 110lb I think you are just trying to get into some thing you think you can win? Why not Ms. Bermuda then.

      LOL

      • donna says:

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO SAY WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING
        ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE US

  8. itwasn'tme says:

Just because they are meaty doesn’t make them obese. Most island gurls are naturally big and chunky….nothin wrong with dat. I bet most of them have normal appitites and are fairly active. Most would not have any serious health problems and will live well into their 70s

  9. PAULA BURGESS says:

As a contestant in the Miss Big and Beautiful Pageant, I would like to thank those who wish us well and who have the intelligence to look beyond soceity’s sterotypical beauty and other’s ingnorance. The negative commentary will not dampen our spirits or our feelings of self-worth. Those words will only serve as a catalyst to boost our confidence and elevate our pride of being who we are. That is the epitome of true beauty.

  10. Don't care what anyone says:

Like this much more than the Miss Skinny Bermuda contest. These girls have class!

  11. Jim Garlic says:

….AND REIGNING HEAVYWIEGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD….LETS’ GET READY TO RUMBLE …wait whats that sound ,,OH B52 BOMBERS ,,I THOUGHT THE US BASE WAS GONE….

    • Big Girl says:

I find this horrible. How can you be so abrasive and DISGUSTING?!

Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps someone can be healthy and not a size two?
It’s people like you that are helping to destroy a woman’s sense of self.

You are crass and ignorant. I hope you take a long walk off a short cliff.

    • Intelligence says:

FYI you and your name sounds sooooooooooo MUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! suck on that!

    • donna says:

I AM SO SORRY FOR YOU THAT YOU FEEL THAT BADLY ABOUT YOUR SELF THAT YOU HAVE TO BELITTLE THESE LOVELY LADIES GET HELP GO TO A SHRINK

  12. bermyshotta says:

Johnny Barnes lookin shocked to see all dem pretty ladies standing next to him haha! You ain’t gotta be skinny to be beautiful. Fall on a knife whoeva talkin dat badmind business to these girls. Messed right up. Look in de mirror first! You know dey doin sumthin right when ya got ppl hatin on dem! Keep it real and you lot do look beautiful.

  13. LICKS IS TRUMPS... says:

Is there a wide enough runway in Bermuda ?

    • Jimmy says:

Yeah the LF Wade International Runway 35-A!

I’m not trying to discourage these women, even big women need love, but at the same time I don’t this we should be gloifying obesity because thats what it is. Excess weight more times that not leads to other negative health implications. That is a fact. Similiary we should not be glorifying skinny/malnourished people. I actually think some of the women in the competition are attractive in their features, i just think their bodies should match.

      • get over yourselves says:

        Seriously,

A pageant for women who are not a size 2 is “glorifying obesity”?!

You are truly ASSES for these comments “Jimmy” and “LICKS IS TRUMPS”.

If so, I guess we can think of contests such as Miss USA etc as glorifying BULIMIA and ANOREXIA!!! Because most of the girls in those competitions binge, throw up, or starve themselves to be what society calls “beautiful” and thin. Not healthy right?! Or maybe it doesn’t matter to you if their RIBS are showing?

      • Big Girl says:

Let’s think about this for a second. To be obese is is to be well above one’s ideal weight. [Got that from the Medical Dictionary] Ideal weight can being anything. I don’t see anyone up there who is obese. Overweight is just that, over one’s ideal weight. The fact that you believe that a woman’s weight should match her face make’s me believe that you are living in a dream world. I’ve seen women with chubby faces and thin bodies. So your statement is unfounded, go actually look at the people in the world.

Excess weight, does not more often than not lead to health issues. Excess means more than what is normal, sufficient, proper or specified. Last I checked, normal is different for every person, so is sufficient. Proper is to be debated. Specified only happens when you are expected to be a certain weight/height/class to obtain a position or to gain the right to enter some sort competition, etc.

You sir are a word I cannot care to type because it would demean me to use it.

So I thank for causing me to lose even more faith in our school system and bid you good night.

      • DemDontKno!!! says:

Ok Jimmy 1 of those ladies is my cuzzy. N to u n the rest of the idiots making stupid childish comments like that, look in ur family. Bet any amount of money that either ur moms, sister, aunt and so on r a fuller figured woman. Get off their backs. If u were 2 make a comment like that round me like that u woulda been lookin up at me from the floor. Beautiful women come in all shapes n sizes. So back up n stop tryn 2 take their shine. And just 2 let u kno everyone has the right 2 b an idiot, but don’t abuse the privilede, Jimmy n company.

    • Intelligence says:

Um yeah, Your head! They can maybe open that up and use it since there apparently seems to be nuthing else there!

      • Intelligence says:

And yeah, I know that ‘nothing’ is spelled wrong. However, I tried to speak a little bit of your language so that you may understand me!

    • donna says:

      JERK

  14. miss st georges says:

To all those who left positive comments I thank you! You have made our day! To all those who left negative comments I thank u as well cause you have told us that haterade is still a very popular drink and I hope u choke on it. No matter what people do in this island seems that others have to hate on it! At least we have the courage to come out and do something like this. To us this just makes us stronger and better at what we are doing, and I’m going to do it to the best of my ability! Thank you!

    • So Predictable! says:

To all of my lovelies thank you for your support both positive and negative!!! One thing about a bigger woman is that she has loads of strength, loads of heart, loads of love.

The negativity is nothing new but something that we face on a daily whether it is thrown in our face or said behind our backs.

This is why the MISS BIG AND BEAUTIFUL PAGEANT is so important. To show the diversity of the “Bermuda” people. We should not feel burdened or outcast because we weigh more but we should be proud of who we are.

People are going to stereotype and say that were obese but I know that I am active and have NO health issues. Plus I AM – BIG AND BEAUTIFUL…. Thank you!!! :( )

  15. BDA GIRL says:

I know I’m a bit late, but I wanted to wish all the contestants well. Do your best, be positive, and keep a smile. No matter what people say, you are beautiful. God bless you!!!

  16. D. Everett says:

I know I am posting this comment late, but I want to wish all these beautiful ladies good luck. It takes courage to go out there and put yourself on the chopping block. Forget all these idiots and haters, just be proud of yourselves. Best of luck to each and everyone of you, can’t wait to see the show

  17. Bold Enough says:

    Good luck Rebecca!
