This morning [Apr.16] Lt Col David Burch and Minister Zane DeSilva hosted the ”Spring Clean Up’, which was sponsored by the PLP Southampton East Constituency 29 and Southampton East Central Constituency 30. The Colonel and the Minister joined with others in working to remove trash and debris, cut back shrubbery, sweep the streets and more.
The Colonel said they were pleased with the help they received from branch members with the cleanup, saying there is no need to throw litter and debris all over the place, and that we in our own small ways can assist to clean up our own neighborhoods.
Minister Desilva, who was working along with a few young helpers, said that the cleanup also offered a chance to bond and talk to people in the constituency. The Minister introduced Glenn Woods, who he said was the boss and was making sure they all do the job correctly.
The group was divided into multiple teams who focused on areas including Camp Hill, the Railway Trail, Scenic Heights, Riviera Crescent and more. The volunteers collected numerous bags of trash, with items collected including a water pressure tank, batteries, an an old crash helmet, numerous liquor bottles and much more.
