Arrest Made: Death Of Denise Evans

[Updated] The Bermuda Police have confirmed that a 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the suspicious death of 45-year-old Denise Evans Wilkinson.

This past Friday afternoon [Apr.29], Police responded to a report of a body in the waters of the Mills Creek area in Pembroke, which was determined to be that of Ms Evans.

Although the Police have not yet officially declared her death to be a homicide, at yesterday’s press conference, Superintendent Antoine Daniels said “the death was not a natural death, and from the findings of the autopsy it appears that death was aided by someone else.” He also said there were actually two causes of death, but declined to go into specifics.

This afternoon [May 4] members of the Police diving squad were seen appearing to being searching in the waters in the same general vicinity.

Police wish to speak to persons that may have any information regarding the unfortunate death of Miss Evans and encourage anyone with such information to contact Serious Crime Unit investigators on telephone number 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-8477.

Update 6:30pm: The Police confirm that a 46 year old Pembroke man was arrested “on suspicion of murder.” A Police spokesman said, “He remains in police custody while investigators continue to pursue various lines of inquiry, but he has not been formally charged with any offences.”
