Perozzi’s Opponent Moves Down

January 4, 2012

Following her loss to Bermuda’s Teresa Perozzi, the Trinidad media is reporting that Trinidad and Tobago boxer Lorissa Rivas will no longer fight in the Middleweight Division, thus putting an end to a possible rematch.

This decision was announced by Boxu Potts, Special Adviser, Trinidad and Tobago Boxing Board following two consecutive defeats by Ms Rivas. Mr Potts said his fighter, who agreed to his proposal that she shift classes, has finished on the losing end although she had been well in the lead after the fifth rounds in both bouts.

“I have since sat down with the fighter and agreed that she will fight in the Super Welterweight division, which is the class that the deceased Giselle Salandy dominated. Rivas has also agreed to fight in a lower weight class,” Mr Potts said.

Ms Perozzi had already predicted that Ms Rivas would not fight her again, saying: “The promoter would love a rematch. He is talking end of February, but I would be surprised if she would get in the ring with me again to be honest.”
