Bermuda Hockey Federation league action continued this past weekend at the National Sports Centre in Devonshire with action in both the mens and women’s divisions.
Women’s Division: Budgies 5 Canaries 2
The Budgies went ahead in the 2nd minute in this women’s division contest when Francesca Cacace scored from a penalty corner. Two minutes later the Canaries were level as Rebecca Gibson scored from a penalty corner, however the Budgies would go back in front in the 45th minute when Keishae Robinson scored a penalty stroke.
Crisanthi Bartley would double the Budgies lead in the 48th minute converting a field goal. Maya Palacio pulled a goal back for the Canaries in the 53rd minute when she scored a field goal, but Jasmine Patterson restored the Budgies two goal lead when she scored a 58th minute field goal. Cacace scored her second goal of the game in the 67th minute converting a field goal.
Men’s Division: Polecats 1 Spartans 5
Donnie Simmons put the Spartans up 1-0 in the 18th minute scoring from a penalty corner. A field goal in the 21st minute off the stick of Angus Betts drew the Polecats level, but Simmons put the Spartans back in front in the 24th minute when he converted a penalty stroke.
Simmons completed his hat-trick when he scored in the 35th minute when he scored from a penalty corner before Joshua Thompson made it 4 – 1 with a field goal in the 52nd minute. Simmons then closed out the scoring with a field goal in the 58th minute.
Men’s Division: Upstarts 1 Pantheons 5
Richard Cox scored a hat-trick in the first 11 minutes to give the Pantheons a 3 – 0 lead. Cox scored a field goal in the 6th minute, a penalty corner in the 8th minute and a field goal in the 11th minute.
Gerry Ralins made it 4 – 0 in the 35th minute with a field goal, before Neil Mountford made it 5 – 0 to the Pantheons in the 61st minute with a Field Goal. Colin Van Den Bosch pulled a goal back in the 63rd minute with a field goal for the Upstarts.
