Airport Letter Referenced “Doomsday Scenario”

January 8, 2013

The envelope that prompted the incident at the airport last week was penned by an anonymous person based in Hong Kong and referred to the “doomsday scenario” connected with the end of the Mayan calendar, the police said today.

Some doomsday-believers around the globe predicted 21 December 2012 would mark the end of the world, due to the Maya calendar ending on that date.

Last Thursday [Jan 3] police, fire and ambulance attended the airport after a report of “suspicious substance” in an envelope that originated overseas. As a safety precaution, one airport staffer was taken to the hospital and at least six others were quarantined.

The police said that initial reports suggested that the envelope contained a letter threatening Bermuda and the Bermuda Government, as well as a powdery substance. However, the police said today the letter contained no references to Bermuda, and made no threats directed towards anyone in Bermuda.

The envelope was forensically examined and no traces of any toxic or other substances were found, and a police investigation has commenced and enquiries are being made with law enforcement agencies overseas.

The full police statement is below:

On Thursday 3rd January 2013 following a call to the L.F. Wade International Airport, emergency services attended to a report of a suspicious envelope that had been delivered by regular mail.

Initial reports had suggested that the envelope contained a letter threatening Bermuda and the Bermuda Government, as well as a powdery substance.

The envelope was forensically examined and no traces of any toxic or other substances were found. The letter was penned by an anonymous person based in Hong Kong.

The contents of the letter referred to the doomsday scenario that was anticipated following the December 21st 2012 Mayan calendar ‘end of days.’

It contained no references to Bermuda or the Bermuda Government and made no threats directed towards anyone in Bermuda.

No injuries were caused to any staff at the airport and although one staff member was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital out of an abundance of caution, she was released shortly thereafter.

There was at no time any danger to the traveling public or other airport staff and airport operations were not disrupted. Incoming and outgoing flights were not affected and cordons were placed around the airport police station only as a matter of procedure.

An investigation was commenced by the Bermuda Police Service and enquiries are being made with law enforcement agencies overseas.

The Mayan calendar is not one of doomsday but one of transitioning….because people do not overstand interpretations it has been confused with ignorance like so much of African history..tsk,tsk..Its all to do with the weather and astrological aspects of transitioning from a Pisces age to the age of Aquarius. Don’t believe the hype!Do your research proper.

I’m confused by the report. An anonymous letter was found at the airport? Did it come in with the regular mail and was screened, was it found on the floor or was it carried by a passenger? I am assuming it came in regular mail and was x rayed?
