  1. Uncle Bob says:

The term Have Been Arrested….should only apply if the suspects would be formally charged…..

the police need to use correct terms when just having people pulled in for qustioning then bailed without being charged…Just Saying

    • James says:

Actually you are totally wrong. An arrest is made when you are taken into custody not when charged. Charges can be made months later. The word ‘arrest’ when used in its ordinary and natural sense, means the apprehension of a person or the deprivation of a person’s liberty. The question whether the person is under arrest or not depends not on the legality of the arrest, but on whether the person has been deprived of personal liberty of movement. When used in the legal sense in the procedure connected with criminal offences, an arrest consists in the taking into custody of another person under authority empowered by law, to be held or detained to answer a criminal charge or to prevent the commission of a crimin

      • James says:

If your liberty has been taken away as in this case then you definitely are in fact ‘under arrest’

    • The truth Hurts says:

      @Uncle Bob
      - You have officially made yourself sound like a fool. Many persons are arrested for suspicion of committing crimes. That is what the arrest is. It is the deprivation of their liberty in order to obtain information, carry out further investigation or charge for an offence. There is no special term used for “brought in for questioning”. Get your jurisdiction correct……just sayin.

    • swing voter says:

I hope they have the right ppl and make the charges stick.

    • just sayin says:

No “have been arrested” and “have been charged” are totally different..they were arrested which is y they say arrested n not arrested n charged..just sayin..ppl always have the dumbest things to complain about..

    • Pickup says:

1 man shot – 4 more lives potentially , wasted!

To be fair, I can’t imagine any were exactly pillars of the community.

From reading the above, the police spokesperson said:

“The four suspects remain in police custody. Inquiries are ongoing with detectives examining evidence recovered from scene and recording witness statements”.

The term “arrested” appears to have been used by Bernews.

We really have to be careful in interpreting what we read.

    • Mad Dawg says:

They are ‘in custody’ because they were arrested. Bernews is right.

    • Bernews says:

To clarify, the term arrested was used by the police – twice.

      The police statement said:

  3. mixitup says:

If this Girl is found to have played a role, I hope they make an example of her because these “Girls” are notorious for luring people or setting someone up!!

    • Bermuda Male says:

Agreed. I know of several instances of where a female played the damsel in distress role while they’re mates lurked in the shadows ready to pounce on guys that stopped to “help” the girl.

  4. SSDD says:

Let me guess, 4 expat kids wearing dark golf visors who left the scene in a CRV.

    • justMYopinion says:

      How did you guess?

    • Robin Sheppard says:

I find sarcasm in the midst of a national crisis such misplaced energy.

    • Tommy Chong says:

I wouldn’t be so smug if I were you. Just as some local kids play the wankster role some expat kids play the wankster’s customer role. Wouldn’t mommy & daddy be so proud of little johnny & suzzy if they knew they were taking such an interest in chemistry studies at such an early age. Since I’m on the the topic of chemistry how about the other chemistry that goes on between some of the expat’s daughters who love the bad boy wanksters who dress & look like their favorite rapper in the music videos. Who needs the justin bieber type when the chris brown type is so much more risqué. ;)

      • Tricks are for kids says:

Thanks for that Tommy ….Only IF some people knew what was really going on….

      • sandgrownan says:

        Insightful social commentary.

        • Tommy Chong says:

Wow Sandgrown! Your full of positive comments towards me these days. First suggesting that I was the Messiah & now this. I’m flattered!

Just doing my civic duty letting expats know they must be mindful of their children also in Bermuda. At least most locals know the children of other locals & word gets back one way or another to the parent of what they do. It’s the local parent’s choice of how they handle the information they get about their children & this is where it falls by the wayside. I really feel sorry for the expat parents as they probably aren’t as aware of what goes on at some of the teen parties in Bermuda & even some school dances. Some expat parents are misguided into thinking that Bermuda is still a tame place for their kids compared to other countries especially since they probably don’t know that thug kids will still find out about private parties & mix in with the rest. Most will allow the thugs to crash their parties as long as they don’t get too rowdy especially when they come bearing “party” gifts.

  5. What a joke says:

Always these expat and fairylands kids causing trouble!

    • mixitup says:

No Way! Expat/Fairylands Kids won’t do anything like this! But they would likely take out a school full Kindergarteners.

      • Tommy Chong says:

My mate from fairylands used to throw the best parties up in his yard. There was weed, booze, making out on the grass & so much more. Even had some crazy thugs at the set who started getting rowdy but that got squashed quick when we brought out his moms gardening tools. Miss those days! Probably cant have parties like that anymore since thugs have guns now & gardening tools will do little to calm that threat.

      • dgsa says:

yeah…except for that one who chopped up that guy with a samurai sword!!! white people commit crimes too

        • Except.. says:

I believe mixitup stated expat/fairylands kids (as opposed to white). That guy is Bermudian and from crawl. For the record, he was the only one convicted but not the only one involved. The guy that got chopped with the samurai sword wasn’t exactly innocent either. I’m not saying that either one was right. I’m just saying that he the one that got chopped could have had numerous convictions for his actions and got off scott-free.

  6. Voter says:

Regardless of the semantics of arrested or not arrested, good work to get them so fast. If they are guilty of this shooting incident they need to be removed from society for a very long time.

    • soldierpride says:

I agree with you 100% this has got to stop & its not even dam summer time yet, I hope & pray every family has a BLESSED & SAFE GOOD FRIDAY.

  7. "many rivers to cross......"!!! says:

BPS…..PLEASE n I say PLEASE follow protocol n then make doubly sure ALL your T’s are crossed n ALL your I’s are dotted; the punctuations are where they belong n let’s sink them like they tried to sink the 22 year old……for real. Too much n it must be stopped one way or the other. Book ‘em…..somebody. Nasty farts!!!!!

  8. backbush says:

    • relieved mama says:

Summer is only gonna get worse..more heat! Weed is definitely needed and not for 0.2 or 0.1 grams for $50 either. Alcohol and heat don’t mix! Shootings have just begun

  9. Concerned says:

I was watching the new “Boston’s Best” on TV last night (hoping I have the name correct” – they have a fugitive team, gang team and so on. A young man was murdered and the ‘gang team’ was positioned outside the church where they were having the viewing and the deceased’s best friend was seen leaving the viewing early with another man. Two of the gang team were dispatched to follow and apprehend the friends who were stopped in the territory of a gang. The guys were stopped, taken aside, other members of the ‘gang team’ arrived and talked to and pleaded with them and told them exactly what we have been saying for years “it is time for this to stop, another death does not bring back people and so forth”. The next day was the funeral and again, the “team’ was positioned outside of the church to look for, assist with and apprehend any known rival gang members who may come to cause trouble. Again, young people killing one does not bring back another it only brings more hate, confusion, heart ache, torn families and babies without daddy’s”.

The fools who do all this stuff have only one vision for Bermuda — Ghetto!
it’s like they want it so bad that there going to kill for it – a Ghetto!
Imagine if the Tourist stop coming here and all the Offshore Companys left ,6000 jobs disapeared, all the
Sponsors from Banks and other Business Stoped,80% of the Shops closed, our Dollar was only worth
30cents to the U.S.Dollar, can you imagine 89% of Bermudians can’t pay Mortgage or Rent. and can you
imagine only Tin Food being sold and what left over shop is open, how about $25 for a Gallon of Gas or picture
Belco having to cut services because no one can no longer pay for electricity – also no money coming in means no cable to watch TV.- Keep Shooting and this could be the new Bermuda — Island Ghetto.
Keep shooting = Bad reputation = no tourist = no Offshore Business = NO MONEY = Ghetto.

    • Lazy In Bermuda... says:

For Real.. but what does that have to do with silly trick kids banging for a buck??

    • Tommy Chong says:

      Sure do!

The story goes that somebody would get cuddly on the coach with his boyfriends & watch the movie New jack City. They watched it over & over again inspiring to be like the nemesis character in the movie nino brown. The plot of New jack City for those who don’t know is that nino is the leader of a gang that becomes the dominant drug ring within New York City. Nino’s gang achieves this rise to the most powerful gang by making themselves the only go to for drug addicts & turning an apartment complex into a heavily fortified crack house. Somebody & her boyfriends would love it if Bermuda turned into an island ghetto then they could fully achieve their dream.

    • Come Correct says:
