Advisory: Friday Marathon Traffic Restrictions

The NatWest Island Games half marathon road running race will take place on Friday [July 19] starting at 6:30pm. The police said that as a result some traffic delays are anticipated and motorists are advised to take alternate routes if possible.

The police said the half marathon race route is as follows:

Runners will depart from National Sports Centre via the Parsons Road gate, turning left onto Frog Lane, left onto Palmetto Road, Marsh Folly Road, right onto Blackwatch Pass, left onto North Shore Road and right onto Spanish Point Road to a turnaround point just before Spanish Point Park.

Runners then head back along Spanish Point Road and turn left onto North Shore Road, continuing until they reach a turnaround point just before Jennings Road.

Runners will then return along North Shore Road, turning left onto Blackwatch Pass, left onto Marsh Folly Road, Palmetto Road and right onto Frog Lane, entering National Sports Centre via the Parsons Road gate.

A police spokesperson said, “Police officers will assist with traffic control at key locations along the race route. Marshals will also be posted along the race route to assist with managing this event.”
