Premier, Mrs. Dunkley To Join Relay For Life

May 30, 2014

Later today [May 30] Premier Michael Dunkley will join his wife Pamela Dunkley in participating in the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s Relay For Life 24-hour charitable event.

The Relay For Life event is a volunteer driven, team based walking event which helps to raise awareness and funds to support cancer programmes in Bermuda. It’s being held over a 24 hour period during which special ceremonies to celebrate, remember and fight back are being held.

To date, organisers of the event confirm that over 120 teams have registered for Bermuda’s first Relay For Life event and Mrs. Dunkley has entered a team into the event.

Premier Dunkley said this is an event which is “very close to his heart”, as Mrs. Dunkley is a cancer survivor.

The Premier said, “I have seen firsthand the effects that this terrible disease can have on a person. It takes a devastating toll on those who you love and there is such a feeling of helplessness that we as family and friends go through. So I am very pleased to join Pam and her team and support their efforts in what I believe is a tremendously worthy cause.”

Mrs. Dunkley added, “I am thrilled to participate in Bermuda’s first ever Relay For Life. This is an emotionally powerful event for me and I couldn’t help but support the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. They have done such an amazing job bringing this event to Bermuda along with their work for cancer awareness, screening, detection and prevention.

“I want to encourage as many people as possible to not only support the Relay For Life movement but to support the ongoing efforts of the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. Each person’s help can get us that much closer to creating a world where this disease will no longer threaten those who we love.”

The Relay For Life of Bermuda event kicks of this evening, May 30 at 6.00 p.m. and concludes tomorrow, May 31 at 6.00 p.m.

I would guess: (i) friends of Mrs Dunkley (ii) who care enough to run in aid of a cancer charity?

Yeah, that’s just one of the teams registered. Anyone could have formed a team for this event.

The same as any other team! Stop trying to stir the pot. Get off your butt like these ladies have and form a team of your own with your friends and family.
