    Somerset!!!
    “All de way” :-)

  2. Godson says:

Rudell Pitcher should’ve been in the “new champions” St. George’s team…either way “party in St. George’s Friday Night”…

    • Hurricane says:

Bermudians use any excuse to party. Loose Cup Match and your still gonna party……lol lol

Have a safe & happy holiday!

  3. Kunta says:

    Looks competitive, please no draw.

  4. Ladeej says:

Congratulations to all who made it to the respective teams. I am looking forward to the game. St George’s, where is Damali Bell? That is all.

  5. metro says:

mercy, they are going to come to somerset with that……Lol, they lucky Kamal is a reserve. oh well we will have Friday afternoon to party.

    • Stumped says:

      So true Metro

    • Trotty says:

He is a reserve for a reason. That means he is not good enough to make the 11 so I don’t see St George jumping for joy because he is not playing!!! GO ST GEO!!!

  6. Ruthless says:

Congrats to Delray Rawlins. The future of Bermuda cricket.

  7. Stumped says:

St Georges looks a rag tag team something that resembles the last players to choose from in a back yard game compared to Somerset’s. Yes they have a few ok players but the last two years have shown by the results. With them picking this team it lacks future planning. Somerset looks to well organized from them to loose.

  8. Robert says:

    No delyone ?!!!!!

  9. Errin Butterfield says:

Congrats to all of the chosen players. Wishing everyone a peaceful and safe Cup Match. May the game be competitive and played in good spirits. Let’s go Somerset!!!!!

  10. SOS says:

Kamal for jacobi F*”! Scc is full of favortism!

  11. Squirt says:

I’m a DIEHARD St.George fan but are you serious. Why is it that Somerset has some very high morales and St Georges don’t. Dion Stovall would have walked into St George team blind folded this year, but Somerset told him sorry mate, not enough training therefore you CAN NOT play. ( GREAT EXAMPLE OR IS IT THEY DID NOT WANT ANOTHER HEADACHE IF HE SCORED OVER 50 RUNS)

Nonetheless, You have a good captain in O J Pitcher, Rodney Trott & Am I seeing things to see that Alan Douglas took 5 (Five wickets, captained Cleveland to Eastern Counties) and DID NOT, I REPEAT DID NOT make this soft team, However you have Oronde BASCOME just landed 2 weeks ago has not proven SH** and walks into CUP MATCH, Brother in law is President, Father player coach, Grandad ex Cup Match skipper ( lost the cup) But this is totally bogus !!!!! Are you fri@@in kidding me, The same Oronde that led this team onto the field wearing a BLACK towel outside his pants ( should’ve been white ).
This is the reason Cup Match is becoming a damn joke year after year. How did his brother even become a reserve when neither have been here to represent St Geo this year…… What a life to be a family member, Foggo or Bascome…….. GO SOMERSET !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I’m a St Geo, but I hate this favoritism crap…. UP HILL DOWN HILL CRICKET

Also to be a reserve in Cup Match alone is an honor, you get to stay in the team hotel, eat breakfast and dinner with the team, go to visit Governor or whatever, get prizes at presentation, name comes on radio if you are on the field or TV for that matter. So why didn’t a young player deserving get the job….. smfh ….

    • Real talk says:

      I agree we’ll said

    • G'd Up says:

So true bra. Oronde as captain is just favoritism. They have lost the cup already. Where is Flossy? Smh

    • Micquita Minors says:

Wow!Hate much? If only people with such strong opinions about someone (which you are entitled to), who have no issues with posting other’s names, would sign their own names. smh

    • Howz Dat Man says:

      GO ST GEORGES!!!!

    • HOWZ DAT MAN says:

      GO ST GEORGES !!!

    • Squirt says:

Only a relative will disagree BY MARKING DISLIKE !!!!!!! Forgot to mention, president son reserve also, but he is young and deserves it because I seen him take an incredible one handed catch against Cleveland 2 weeks ago…… So he is a good little FOOGO !!!!!!! LOL

    • Robert says:

You hit the nail dead center, im strictly st.geo, but it a foggo bascome thing down there….i hope we take a flogging just for our ignorance.

    • Okera Bascome says:

Would love to know who writes these things Lol smh

    • wow says:

Lol. Oronde bascome got the second most runs In the country last season. Allan douglas has got 5 ducks this season. Jus sayin.. lol

      • Blip says:

“Oronde bascome got the second most runs In the country last season” YOU DO REALISE THAT ITS A NEW SEASON?!?! Allan may have 5 ducks in ALL competitions BUT he is an alrounder with a few wickets to his name THIS SEASON.He can bowl spin or fast medium and don’t forget he is one of the best fielders we have today!
Not taking anything from Oronde because he has also been doing well overseas but with St Georges needing to bowl somerset out twice for victory then Allan would have been my choice! I would go even as far as to have played Onias instead of Oronde if we are talking cricket but if we are talking personal then I cant comment.

    • Next says:

I see no lies. That’s the St Georges way though. Always has been. Favoritism to family and friends.

  12. metro says:

congrats to all the players who were selected for their respective teams, all the best guys.

  13. i and i says:

A message to both teams, either drink or play,if you drink….don’t expect to do well …have fun instead…but either way cricket is a gentlemans’ game.If you intend to participate ,the sport and the game reflect on how you deal with life , to succeed in life you will need sportsmanship and payin attention is virtuous….remember it is a game of life and our children learn from your behaviour , the children learned quite a bit from the way Somerset played last year ,and what they got from the efforts made and how they played.Who will it be this year? How will you be remembered?Memories stay with you.

  14. i and i says:

In the end that is all you have….so, go out and make some good ones,to be remembered by, how do you wish to be remembered?

  15. What is a junior reserve???? What the hack is the St.George’s Selectors doing down there, you have supports all over this Island, not just in St.George’s, and all this family and same name stuff has to stop, the Captain should have been the bigger man out of this and bowed down from being the captain and let a true leader lead the team Back to victory, he is being carried from the shirt tails of his Father, let’s be real people,I’ll say what everyone wants to say but are to scared to say it. Oronde Bascome is not the one to skipper this side, has been here just over a month, made 2 runs on the final trial match and still made captain…..SMH. They drop Allan Douglas WHY??? How about young Dennis Musson??? Where is the fairness here? Far to much favorites in this club, must get some new blood there, never heard of a junior reserve in all my years of Cup Match all 60+yrs? for all the St.George’s Selectors you done the fans a great injustice. And yes this team on paper may look good and may even look balanced but to compare it to Somerset’s team it is a back yard cricket team, not to WIN the cup BACK……Congrats to all the players of both teams who made it,play hard and just enjoy yourselves out there on the field, just be gentlemen. I wish St.Geoege’s all the best, Blue & Blue all the way………………… No matter what. For 2015 STGCC selectors let’s get it right, no need for a junior reserve, and if you had to take one what about Zion Smith a great up coming cricketer muck better player than this youngster, is this the presidents’ son? WOW!!!! Time for a CHANGE people.

    • bermp bermp says:

Ask zion smith how many training sessions he attended. Smh. Typical bermudian

      • Shame on you says:

Leave Zion alone! We are talking about a 14 year old BOY!!
He is very talented but his interest is not in cricket and therefore has not been motivated to play this season. Don’t worry about Zion, he will be just fine and its sad that someone would point fingers at a 14 year old to justify why another 14 year old was picked. TYPICAL BERMUDIAN if the truth hurts get defensive!!!

    • Trotty says:

You do know that this is a made up position to give the youngsters a taste of the atmosphere? He would not be able to replace a fielder if they were to get injured. He is only required to refresh players by making sure they have water, towels etc so while I agree with some of what you said these youngsters shouldn’t be the topic of conversation. To Zion, keep your head up! It was great talking to you the other day and I fully understand the direction you want to go but remember you are equally talented in cricket and therefore I would like to see you display that talent in the near future.Best Wishes

    • D says:

Negative, negative, negative. We all know Bermudians do not like change. Cant please everyone. Someone will get disappointed.
The Junior Reserve, even if he is the Presidents son, has worked hard this season and to let you know last year as well. He attends every training session, senior training and cup match training and U17 training. He is dedicated to cricket and that is what you want in a young cricketer. He will go far. On the otherhand the youngster Zion Smith, as far as I can see, only because I have attended a few of the training sessions, has shown up for very few training sessions. No dedication. Yes he is a good player and good potential but dedication is a must if you want to succeed.
St. George team might not be as good as the Somerset team ON PAPER. But any cricketer or true cricket fan knows cricket is a funny game. Anything can happen on the day especially two day of cup match. GO ST. GEROGES!!!!!

      • Trotty says:

You obviously cant read. Zion Smith interest lies elsewhere being the reason for his LACK OF INTEREST IN CRICKET, why are we grown adults debating 14 year olds and a position that doesnt exist in cricket. This young man has been involved and dedicated to playing various sports on the island cricket, football, baseball, golf etc Now he is at that age were he feels its time he puts his focus on achieving his goal and unfortunately its not in the sport of cricket. If you are not close enough to Zion too know what he wants to achieve in life, before making assumptions, why not try talking to Zion! Very approachable and humbled young man. BTW, as you stated you have only been to a few training sessions, where is your dedication and support for your team? I bet you have commitments elsewhere!Right? Do you understand where im going with this? Please leave both of these boys alone!!!! They didn’t ask to be the topic, and as a result, are subject to negative comments. Lets not forget, they both can read!!!Have a safe cupmatch.

  16. I totally have to agree with so proud to be Bermudian, they hit the nail dead on, far to many family members they must pick from the best who choose to play for St.George’s Cup Match team, drop all this new introduction to have your son Mr. President (Neil Paynter) come in,there are over far better players that can be called a junior reserve , why him? what’s up with that? I can named a least 8 young players deserving to be called up. Get rid of the Foggos,Bascones, ant the Paynter’s and all of the St.George’s supports will be happy the captain been here a month his brother a little longer both of them put together couldn’t make one players ,very lazy not fit and are there cause who they are, SMH…. Proud Bermudian said it all. Congrats to both St.George’s and Somerest Oh ! people of St.George’s please do not be afraid to speak out and write and correct wrong goings on, To all the young players out there to someday want to play Cup Match go for it and don’t let anything or anyone stand in your way. And for the St.Georges Selectors you indeed let me and countless supports down, SAME ON ALL OF YOU……. Hope you got a good nights rest. Proud Bermudian you have a lot of support out there and you spoke the truth the Real truth, congrats to you as well.

  17. Free rashun says:

Somerset all de way. We guys are keeping the cup

  18. GEEZ BYE says:

While I agree with a lot that you said, as a St Georges fan, we must continue to support our team as no one player is bigger than the game. Politics has a way of rearing its ugly head when it comes to team selection BUT I have seen a change in mindset with St Georges having new selectors that in my opinion are very fair. looking at our team it is definitely lacking in experience and game winners BUT in todays game you don’t need much experience with the rapid decline in the standard. Oh what I would pay to see some of my old players grace the field!!Here is my Dream Team: Wendall Smith, Clay Smith, Dean Minors, Charlie Marshall, Glen Blakeney, Noel Gibbons, lionel Cann, David Adams, Stan Smith(deceased) Herbie Bascome and Clarkie Trott. Its good to dream!!
    Good luck to all!

  19. Spike says:

@ squirt…… lol lol…. I didn’t waste my time reading your long comment after the first sentence. How could Dion Stovell “walk in St. Georges team blind folded” if he’s already payed for Somerset ?

    • Squirt says:

You sound like an a** !!!!!! I know he has played for Somerset. That’s why I mentioned if he made 50 what another headache because there is no room for him this year……. DUMBO !!!!!! And I bet you read it all too…liar

  20. haha says:

BLUE AND BLUE ALL DAMN DAY!!

  21. St Geo for life says:

Bermudians have to me the biggest haters in history. How about we let the game take place 1st then talk trash. Else for the favortism just let it go. You have people who play football overseas or go to school and still come home to play for their country. So why is it any different for cricket if they play overseas. Love my team whoever they pick. St. George’s all the way to the haters and SCC bandwagon jumpers

  22. Terry says:

All this hate over a national holiday where we are supposed to come together, camp out, picnic and enjoy a two day paid holiday.

Irony is from what is written above and elsewhere Bermuda is a very self centered place made up of my previous very self centered.

    This is mad.

    Happy 31st and 1st.

    • Islander says:

It isn’t hate talk leave that for the Marchers I take it you hav never heard Brutus, Sub and Red and I am sure SOmerset has their’s as well One Love, One Heart let’s get together at Somerset and it will be alright

  23. Randy says:

St. Geo is winnin de cup outright by an innings this yr somsets team aint s*** but a hope an a wish to do good! My team has the guts an b@lls to get the job done I will be der to support em de whole nine yards !!! St.georges boy for life!!!

  24. Come on Randy really…….. I to love my St.George’s team cause that’s what was chosen for me and I have to except it,but I have to wonder can we really pull it off……….. I’m a realist …. Don’t think so not this year. They do have the cuts and b@lls to put up a good fight but Somerset is waiting and ready for our guys and lead them to slaughter, win, loose or draw St.George’s will always show up……. But we must get it right and pick a winning team, so many goog players out there to choose from, they just weren’t invited for trial matches, why?

  25. ole Onion says:

Congradulations to both Selected teams ! Sorry to say St . Geo coming a long vay for a beating . I’m smiling no A.Dj . Or D.Mj !!?? Lol lol !! We we retain The Cup !! By Victory !! Very doubtful of a draw !!
Be safe n mindful respectively free it up !!

  26. Eyes wide open says:

To all of you who run your mouths and point fingers and assume certain families calling shots, here is the names of the committee who picks the St Geo Cup Match team.

    Chairman Charles Marshall
    Coach. Noel Gibbons
    Capt. Oronde Bascome
    Dean Minors
    Gary Brangman

Your negative comments are typical of jealous and lost souls. Get a life.

    • Rayki Emery says:

Those are the selectors. However, just because they write the team on paper doesn’t mean that there isn’t any outside influences.

If there wasn’t any outside influences dennis musson jr and alan douglas jr would have been playing for st geo five years ago.

      Also where is delyone?

      Somerset will win this one

  27. SOMERSET!!! says:

RED AND BLUE THROUGH AND THROUGH!!!!!!! THE BEST IS IN THE WEST!!!!!!

  28. concerned citizen says:

Congrats to my team St .Georges all day just go out there and do what must be done some may not like who was picked but at the end of the day this is our team and we must support them 100%. Good luck to our captain ignore all the negative comments and lead our team to the best of your ability. These is a team sport not and individual one so its going to take the team the club members and the fans to pull off a victory and bring the cup back to the east. Lets stop with all the blah blah and stand behind our club n team that was chosen

  29. Fruity says:

    GO ST. GEORGE’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps. What does recalled actually mean please? In this cricket sense..
    Thanks

    • Dreamcatcher says:

It means the player has played cup match before but did not play the prior year. He’s recalled to the team.

      Go – St. George’s!

    • Evie says:

They have played before but did not play last year.

    • Fruity says:

Got my answer on recalled, although Fiqre played last year.

    • Zahn 12yrs Old says:

recalled – a player that has played Cup Match before but didn’t play last year

  30. Sook says:

Well done to my young mate Charles “CJ” Marshall for making the team….keep up the good work mate! Good luck and all the best mate! “Chin up Chest out!”

  31. 297 warriors says:

Allan U know u havent done anything to make cup match this year and the years before when u was getting picked. I was at that final trial and those wickets u got were off of s*** bowling and you know it….297 for life!!

    Keep it a hundred bra.

  32. BLUE AND BLUE FAN says:

Not pleased with who is representing St. Georges. HOWEVER, this is who we have, so I will cheer them on. Please, no draws, lets have an actual winner, thanks!

  33. The pot calling the kettle... says:

@297…. I understand your statement wholeheartedly but when you have a cupmatch club who picks a team off of who you are and not what you have accomplished throughout a cricket season what do you expect???

You will always have players and fans who will expect for certain players to play regardless of what they produce. My question is what are you teaching your children??

Also haters will always hate BUT it’s not hating if its TRUE.

I wish everyone a happy and safe cupmatch, peace be with you.
